A little piece of Everton Park history.

Back in 2000, our ladies proudly won the QLBA Metropolitan Pennants Division 2 Final, with Everton Park defeating Manly 59–53 at Ridgewood Heights.

A fantastic photo, a great result, and plenty of familiar faces from The Park’s history.

With our 60th anniversary celebrations underway, we’ll be sharing a few more memories like this from across the decades.

COMMUNITY DAY AT THE PARK
Sunday 20th September

This Sunday, we’re throwing the doors open for a huge Community Day at Everton Park Bowls & Community Club.

There’s something happening right across The Park, whether you’re here for the bowls, the b**r, the cars, the music or just a great Sunday out with the family.

On the day:
• Classic cars from the Riley Car Club at Samford
• Raffles drawn every hour, on the hour
• Barefoot bowls
• Irish dancers
• Live music
• Petting zoo and pony rides
• Juniors and kids can have a proper go at bowls with coaches there to show them how
• Guinness on tap
• Our 18+ outdoor b**r garden
• Plus a very special wooden-keg pour you’d normally have to head to the Brekky Creek to find

It’s a chance to come down, meet the people behind the club, have a bowl, bring the kids, grab a drink and spend a cracking Sunday afternoon with the local community.

New uniform for pennants, 1991.

Four of our blokes, fresh kit, yellow collars, and a cheque that made it happen. Thirty five years ago, out the front of the club.

Here's the thing though. Earlier this year Elliott Brown from Belle Property Everton Park put his hand in his pocket and kitted our bowlers out in a brand new uniform. Same story, different decade. A local business backs the club, the bowlers get on the green, and somebody takes a photo out the front to mark it.

That's how this place has worked for sixty years.

Now, two questions. Does anyone recognise the four legends in this photo? And whose car is that?

Sixty years of Everton Park, and we're opening the greens to the whole neighbourhood.

Community Barefoot Bowls Day is on Sunday 20 September. Two hours on the green for $5 a head. No experience needed, and no shoes either. Bring the family, round up your mates, or come on your own and we'll put you with a good crew.

There are two sessions to choose from, 12pm to 2pm or 2pm to 4pm. Six rinks each session, eight to a rink, so that's 48 spots per session and when they're gone they're gone. Bookings are essential.

Bowls, mates, and a cold one at the bar afterwards. That's the whole plan.

What a day on the green.

Our Ladies President's Day, "A Day with Friends", brought a full house to Everton Park today. President Lyn welcomed bowlers from clubs right across the district for a game of fours, and the greens were packed from the first end to the last.

Morning tea, 21 ends in the sunshine, then lunch in a clubhouse still dressed up from our 60th. Plenty of good bowls, plenty of laughs, and a few results that will get talked about for a while yet.

Days like this are what a community club is for.

Thank you to Adelle and the ladies who put the day together, to the kitchen and bar teams, and to Lyn for hosting so beautifully.

Still to come in our 60th year: our 60 Years Community Open Day, Sunday 20 September. Barefoot bowls, live entertainment, market stalls, food and family fun. Mark the calendar.

The members draw is still sitting at $1,000.

Nobody's name came out last week, so it rolls over again. That's a grand on the line this Saturday, and there's no reason it can't go home in your pocket.

You need to be a financial member and you need to be in the room when your name is called.

Not a member yet? It's $5 for one year, $7 for three or $10 for five. Have a word with the bar team next time you're in and they'll sort you out in about two minutes.

$1,000. Saturday from 730pm. We'll see you at the bar.

Meet the two people who got this whole thing started.

Jack McIntyre, our foundation Men's President. Maisie Brown, our foundation Ladies' President. Back in 1966, when the club was brand new and nothing here was guaranteed, these were the two who put their hands up.

Sixty years on, The Park has around 1,000 members, a calendar that never sits still, and a bar full of people who call this place theirs. All of it traces back to a group of locals who decided Everton Park deserved a bowls club, and to the two presidents who led the way.

We reckon they'd be quietly pleased with how it's turning out.

If you've got a story about Jack or Maisie, or photos from the early days, we'd love to see them. Pop them in the comments or bring them down to the club, we'd like to get them on the wall.

Sixty years, and one very full Saturday.

On Saturday, the Park marked its 60th with awards day, a members' high tea, a club photo, a tree planting and a time capsule that will not see daylight again until our 100th.

Congratulations to Brett James, our 2026 Club Person of the Year. Well earned.

And a big congratulations to our two new Life Members, Ron Cramp and Joan Gray. Six decades of a club like this one does not happen by accident. It happens because of people like you.

Our commemorative tree was planted by Chairman Paddy Murphy and Ladies President Lyn Wood with a plaque honouring our past, celebrating our present, and rolling strong together for the future.

The time capsule is now sealed and dated 5 September 2026, and it stays shut until the club turns 100 in 2066.

Thank you to everyone who came along, bowled, poured, baked, set up and packed down.
