One of my favourite squat regressions for beginners.

I don’t often see people use a cable for assisted squats, but it makes a lot of sense to me.

The cable provides just enough assistance to let someone squat through a greater range of motion while still doing most of the work themselves. As they get stronger and more confident, you simply reduce the assistance over time.

This means they can start building strength in the bottom position of the squat—the range where most beginners struggle the most—instead of avoiding it altogether.

The goal isn’t to rely on the cable. It’s to use it as a tool to progressively build the strength, mobility and confidence needed for a full bodyweight squat.

Sometimes the fastest way to progress isn’t making an exercise harder—it’s finding the right way to make it achievable. 💪
