Believe Basketball was created by Director Mike Ayanbadejo who has over 30 years of basketball experience as a professional athlete and coach. Mike is currently a Teacher with Brisbane Catholic Education, High Performance and 1st Team Coach at Brisbane Boys College and Open Girls Coach at St Peters Lutheran College. After a stellar university and professional basketball career that has included tr

avelling and playing in over fifteen countries; Mike has served as a District Coach, State Coach, QBL Coach, College Coach and Professional individual skills coach. In 2010 Mike was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the University of Guelph in Canada for achievements in basketball and the local community. In 2015 Mike was a finalist for the prestigious Brisbane Catholic Education Teacher of the Year in the Experienced Teacher Category. Mike’s teachings focus on but are not confined to the development of sound fundamentals and knowledge of the game: “Basketball is a microcosm of life, how our young players are able to relate to teammates and coaches, perform under pressure, or when faced with adversity… These attributes are not confined to a game but are part of living.” Mike’s motto is “Believe to Achieve” he focuses on developing strong fundamentals and instilling confidence in his pupils. As a former professional player Mike is able to give his athletes intricate knowledge of the game and the mentality required to succeed at the highest levels. As an educator Mike has the ability to communicate clearly and has a wealth of experience dealing with students and athletes with a wide range of needs and from various backgrounds. Mike keeps himself in tremendous shape and is able to not only articulate his vision to players but also demonstrate the type of intensity that is required to play at the highest levels. Mike takes his athletes out of their comfort zone and pushes them to strive for heights they did not know they were capable of. As a coach, I’ve been fortunate to walk alongside many athletes on their journey.

Miela is a powerful example of what it truly means to GROW.
We’ve worked together for many years, since she was a young girl—and from the very beginning she has always been the epitome of COACHABLE.

Behind the kind smile and big heart is a ferocious competitor.
Strength. Resilience. Toughness.

This year, she became a WNBL Champion—another chapter in an incredible journey.

This week we focused on shooting, finishing, and PNR reads.
Her elite conditioning allows us to get high-level, game-like reps that truly translate.

But more than anything—it’s her mindset.

She asks questions.
She relishes the challenge.
She pushes herself in every drill.
She wants to be coached HARD.
She finds JOY in the journey.

That’s growth.
