Let’s talk about something that might offend some people — but I need to say it.
I’ve been in the fitness industry for many years. Since my very first coaching job in 2010, I’ve experienced being overlooked, pushed to the side, underestimated and, at times, simply not taken seriously.
Honestly, I thought that by 2026, things would have changed.
But I’m still experiencing it, everyday.
And what has been particularly frustrating is that many of the people questioning my abilities, my experience and my frustration have been men who aren’t even part of this industry.
There seems to be this assumption that because I’m a woman& SMALL. I somehow have something to prove.
I’m tired of constantly having to prove that I know what I’m doing.
I’ve spent years learning, coaching, training, studying and building my experience. I take my profession seriously, and I care deeply about the people I coach.
But there is another side of this that I need to address.
Please don’t book me as a coach and then ask me if I want to go on a date or have dinner after our session.
I’m not YOURTinder DATE.🤮
I’M YOUR COACH!
When someone books a professional coaching session, I expect the focus to be on coaching, learning, training and achieving your goals — not whether you can turn the session into a date.
It’s incredibly frustrating and, honestly, it has reached a point where experiences like this have started taking away some of the joy I once had for coaching.
And I’m beginning to understand why so many female coaches choose to work primarily with women.
I want to work with people who genuinely respect me as a professional, value what I bring to the table and are there because they genuinely want to learn off me.
I’m not writing this to attack every man or say that every male client behaves this way. I’ve had some incredible male clients who have shown nothing but respect, and I appreciate them.
But I also know I’m not the only female coach who has experienced this.
So to the women in this industry — have you experienced this too?
Because sometimes you just need to know you’re not the only one. 🩷
