From the cold early mornings to the relentless climbs, James has shown up year after year since 2019 to get the job done and bring it home to the finish line.

Pencil it in, trail lovers—The Guzzler is set to return for another massive weekend on the Brisbane trails next winter!

Behind the scenes, we’re already working hard to secure permits and lock in our suppliers and contractors to make 2027 our best edition yet.

All things going to plan, entries will officially open in early November.

Not only has John Walsh shown up and conquered the course every single year since our inaugural race in 2019, but he has also earned his status as a 500km Legend—racking up massive mileage across the Brisbane hills.

In 2019, the very first edition of The Guzzler kicked off with a brave cohort of trail runners. While plenty lined up, only 346 runners managed to conquer the course and make it to the finish line.

Fast forward eight years and eight events later, and just 9 runners have managed an unbroken streak of official finishes from day one to today.

These runners aren't just names in the results; they are an integral part of the Guzzler family, and athletes we hold a massive amount of admiration and respect for.

Over the coming weeks, we’re spotlighting each of these incredible individuals:

We also want to give a massive nod to Luke Davidson and Richard Young, whose unbroken finish streaks sadly came to an end this year. Going that deep into consecutive years is an extraordinary achievement, and you will always be a huge part of The Guzzler history.

To our Ever-Presents: thank you for being the heartbeat of this finish line since day one.

OVER $1,000 RAISED FOR CONSERVATION 🍻🌿

One of the best things about The Guzzler is seeing our community create an impact that lasts well beyond race day.

Through our partnership with Protect Beautiful Queensland, we’ve donated $1,006.96 to the Queensland Conservation Council — thanks to Felons Brewing Co. donating 100% of event b**r sales profits back to conservation.

Every post-race cold one directly supported protecting the very trails and wild places we love to run.

A massive thank you to everyone who grabbed a cold one at the finish line, and a huge shout-out to Felons Brewing Co for backing our runners, the event, and our local environment.

Good runs. Cold b**rs. Giving back to the trails.

Give it up for our newest Guzzler Legend: Gerard Olive! 👑⛰️✨

Lining up for Brisbane’s biggest ultra is an accomplishment in itself, but clocking over 500 km of Guzzler trails earns true legendary status. Gerard has laced up for every single edition since day one, staying stubborn and keeping the streak alive no matter where life took him.

Here’s what keeps Gerard coming back:

"The Guzzler was the first trail race and first ultra I signed up for. It lit something inside me, and I kept coming back even when I lived on the Sunny Coast and Perth—because I could.

The race has grown while keeping that beautiful community spirit. I love seeing the different generations of shirts out there. I’ve reconnected with old friends, introduced new ones to the trails, and get to role-model choosing to do hard things to my kids. I haven’t missed one yet!"

🔥 Hell Hole Hustle Champions 2026 🔥

The race within the race!

The Hell Hole Hustle challenged our runners to make a tough decision — do you unleash everything through Hell Hole to chase the crown, or save your legs for the ultimate Guzzler finish?

Congratulations to our 2026 Hustle King and Queen:

👑 Jemima Cooper

These two smashed their way through one of the toughest sections of the course to claim the bragging rights, the glory, and an awesome prize pack!

A huge thank you to the Brisbane 4WD Club for bringing the Hell Hole Hustle to life, supporting this section, and adding plenty of atmosphere for runners as they tackled the challenge.

And of course, a big shout out to FIXX Nutrition for keeping runners fuelled and helping provide the much-needed cramp FIXX. There are few places on course where it’s more appreciated!
