Luna, it breaks my heart, you were so gentle, so patient and your presence was just so calming. You were one of a kind. We had some great adventures, but when you become slower and got tired more easily, we couldn't go to the places I wanted to show you anymore.
Your sister loved you dearly, as did your Mum, Dad and everyone else in your life. Slow, but steady in the end. You took your time and even though I didn't know it, I waved at you as you went home the other day and that was, unfortunately your last walk.
Even though your bones were tired and your muscles were sore, you still went on that last walk, the same walk you've done many times. I hope you munched on some grass at your favourite spot and I hope you heard the birds in the trees as you walked by.
Not many dogs hold a place in my dog's heart, but you did. You and Star were one of the first dogs who accepted her for who she was. A grumpy little so and so. You taught her how to dog. I will be forever grateful you were her friend.
I had the privilege to care for you, I hugged you when you were scared, I cuddled both of you and Star and let you both sleep in my bed, I let you have way too many treats. You weren't just a dog I looked after, you were part of my life.
I will always remember seeing you and Star together, exploring the world side by side. It was impossible not to love your gentle nature and beautiful soul.
I am grateful that I got to know you and be a part of your life. Please watch over us, still walk beside Star, sit with her, cuddle her, even if she can't see you, even if she can't hear you, she will know you are there. Thank you for being Luna. Thank you for being Lunie.
