Melbourne International 3 Day Event

This event just gets better and better. Thank you everyone for making this event truly remarkable.

We had 7 horses from Sandhills travel to Melbourne this year.

Oliver Barrett Eventing had his own Tempranado place 5th in the CCI3*L.

jesper.barrett.eventing rode his own Satodaze in the CCN1*L. This is a beautiful young horse with a very bright future and Jesper rode him so well.

Hannah Deegan placed 2nd in the CCN1*L on her lovely Zipalon HK.

Ella McCrum was 3rd on Hez All That Jazz in the CCI2*YR and part of the winning WA team. Her other horse Thunder God, was 9th in the CCN1*L.

Olivia Shore rode Eliva Castana in the CCI4*S with a great start in the dressage but unfortunately Ivy decided it wasn’t in her plan to complete xc. Their day will come!!!

Lydia Proctor and Sandhills Style finished 7th in the CCI2*YR.

We are very proud to have 6 Sandhills bred horses competing at Melbourne and a huge congratulations to Andrew Cooper Eventing and to the owners of Sandhills Cristiano for his win in the CCI3*L.
Congratulations also to Liam Mackenzie Smith and Sandhills Invader for being the winning junior in the CCI2*L.

Adelaide Equestrian Festival

What an incredible event! It gets better and better every year! Thank you to the organisers, officials, stewards, volunteers and the eventing public to make this year bigger and better than ever before🙏

We had 4 horses from Sandhills at Adelaide this year.
Ruby Gorton and her beloved (quirky) Blazing Django aka Mango in the CCI3* completing a childhood dream⭐️⭐️⭐️ A huge thank you to Ruby for looking after our horses at home and being an instrumental part of making it a success.

Olivia Shore and her Dreamcatcher, aka Reams, literally made it look like a stroll in the park for 3rd place in the 3*⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sandhills Gem (Christian/ Sandhills Glint) and Sandhills Briar (Christian/ Sandhills Beetle) making their 5* debut with Oliver Barrett Eventing. We made the decision not to run Gem XC as she wasn’t quite right after dressage but I think we can all agree that Briar stepped up to the plate after that disappointment!

We have believed in this horse from the beginning even before he won his 2*L, 3*L and 4*L and now 5*L. To say this horse has a quirky personality would be an understatement but his desire to please and his talent is outstanding.

A huge credit must go to Oliver for understanding this horse and producing him in a way that educates him and allows him to shine. He has a true partner in this horse and we congratulate him for that.

A huge thank you to Claudia Smith from Matthew C Smith Racing Pty Ltd for looking after Gem and Briar for the week in Adelaide.

These successes don’t happen without a team of people behind you.

Rod Brown Equus Australia has been a huge influence in Craig and Prue’s career and is now passing on his expertise to Oliver. Having Rod in Adelaide was an integral part of the puzzle.

A huge thank you to our farrier Bob Sim Awcf Asf of 36 years!! He has now added another Adelaide win to his belt - 1999, 2012, 2023, 2025 and 2026 which includes 2 generations of Barrett’s😜

Jo Holt from Equine Podiatry & Lameness Centre has also been with us every step of the way since 1999! To have you on our team is a true secret weapon and we will get you to Adelaide one day!

We’ve made a very tough decision but the right decision to withdraw Sandhills Gem from cross country. She wasn’t quite right after dressage and it is not in her or Oliver’s best interest to run xc without her feeling her best. She is well and happy but today isn’t the right day to make her 5* debut.
