After more than 25 years, the time has come to close the doors of Hunta Karate Kyokushinkai.
What began as a local karate club evolved into something far more meaningful — a community built on discipline, resilience, respect, humility, and service to others. Over the decades, the dojo has helped shape the confidence, mindset, health, and character of countless people, creating an impact that extended well beyond the Karateka community.
The true measure of Hunta Karate Kyokushinkai has never been trophies, grades, or titles. It has been the people who have developed along the journey and the values that have been carried forward into families, workplaces, schools, and the broader community.
As a non-profit association, one of the club’s proudest achievements has been its ability to give back. Every contribution, fundraiser, and act of support from members helped create an opportunity to support causes greater than ourselves.
Together, Hunta Karate Kyokushinkai proudly donated:
• $2,750 to the Kids with Cancer Foundation
• $2,750 to Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW
• $2,750 to the Kids’ Cancer Project
• $2,750 to Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF)
These contributions reflect the collective efforts of every student, parent, volunteer, supporter, and sponsor who stood beside the club throughout its journey. This legacy belongs to the entire community.
The foundations of the club were deeply aligned to the teachings of Mas Oyama and the philosophy of Kyokushin — principles that extend far beyond martial arts and remain highly relevant in life, leadership, and character.
“Maintain a low head, a high heart, and a kind tongue.”
“We must look at ourselves through the eyes of others, not our own.”
Thank you to Shihan Trevor Trainor and to every Sensei, Senpai, student, parent, supporter, sponsor, and friend who contributed to this journey over the past 25 years. The lessons, friendships, resilience, and Osu spirit developed through Hunta Karate Kyokushinkai will continue long after the dojo doors have closed.
Osu.
