A fantastic performance by Box Hill's distance runners on Sunday morning at Albert Park 5k to start off the XCR'26 season with a number of individual and team victories.

Donve Viljoen and Stella Radford won gold and silver medals respectively in the women's open race and led the Box Hill women to a team victory (Donve, Stella, Melissa Duncan, Caitlin McQuilken-Bell, Julie F**t). Box Hill teams were also victorious in the women's division 4 (Izzy Cotham, Amelie Alleva and Emelia Eagling-Every), women U18 (Lacey Williams, Isabella Johnstone and Lucy Collins), while Emily Collins won the silver medal in the 45+ age group.

On the men's side, Kalan Luong won the gold medal in the U20s leading the team to victory (Kalan, Robbie Petrie, Will Leslie), while Jae Hao Chan won bronze in the U18s where Box Hill also won the teams event (Jae Hao, Alexander Zabojec and Felix Morgan) and the men's Over 60 team of John Meagher, Andrew Egginton and Peter Stefanos also won their division with John Meagher winning gold.

Box Hill athletes put in some outstanding performances at the national junior championships in Brisbane. Special mention to our Australian champions, Felix Hattwich (U20 pole vault), Harry Dolman (U18 long jump) and Kelsey Loudon (U16 javelin) and also to Sophie Hall (U16, 3000m) who won a silver medal.

Congratulations to Sarah Billings, who competed in two of the most competitive events of the whole Australian championships and picked up a silver medal (1500m) and a bronze medal (800m).

Dalton does it again! Dalton Di Medio defended his Victorian open pole vault title with a leap of 5.35m at Lakeside stadium yesterday.

Congratulations to Sophie Zarafa, Box Hill's first open age gold medalist of this weekend's state championships. Sophie jumped a PB 13.03m in the final round to sn**ch victory in the triple jump.
