GAME DAY // Saturday 27th June

It’s a girls’ day out for the Sporties this weekend! 💁🏼‍♀️

The fellas have earned themselves another bye. It’s been a bit of a stop-start season for the boys with byes, Masters and long weekends sprinkled throughout, but from next week it’s all systems go for the run home.

Meanwhile, the ladies have two big games on the cards.

Game Day Schedule

💜 1:35pm - Women’s Purples vs Bowral Penguins (Field 1)

🖤 2:55pm - Women’s Blacks vs Moss Vale (Field 1)

The Purples will be looking to add some valuable points to the ladder, while the Blacks will be hoping to continue their impressive season and keep their spot at the top.

If you’re looking for something to do this afternoon, come on down to the turfs and get around the girls. Good hockey, good company and hopefully a few goals to celebrate.

Let’s go Sporties! 🦅🏑

SPORTS SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT // Invigorate Health & Performance

It’s no secret that while sport brings plenty of great things into our lives, many of us are unlucky enough to pick up an injury or two along the way.

So we asked a few of our Sporties around the Welby Heights turfs what they thought is one of the most common injuries we see in hockey.

And spoiler alert... it’s definitely knees!

With that in mind, we caught up with Jacob, one of the amazing chiropractors from our legend sponsors Invigorate Health and Performance, to chat about some of the most common knee pain signals hockey players experience, along with a few handy tips and exercises to help improve strength, stability and keep you out on the field.

Check out what he had to say!

We’re incredibly grateful to have Invigorate Health & Performance supporting our club this season. Whether you’re dealing with persistent pain, recovering from an injury, or simply feeling a little less mobile than you’d like, we highly recommend getting in touch with Jacob and the team.

Your knees will thank you for it 🫶🏼🦅

SPORTS REPORT // Round 9 Recap

After a week off for the June long weekend, the birdies were back in action and ready to shake off the cobwebs.

First up, the Purples took on Robertson in what was a well-matched, fast-paced and thoroughly enjoyable game. Both teams worked hard through the afternoon, but it was Robertson who managed to come away with a 2-0 win.

The fellas took to Field 2 against Bowral Wallabies and, to put it politely, got off to a bit of a shaky start. With the Wallabies jumping out to a 3-1 lead, things weren’t exactly going to script.

Whatever was said during the half-time chat clearly did the trick because the boys came out with a renewed fire in the belly and completely turned the game around, storming home for a 5-3 win.

Goals were shared around with Cameron Marshall, Josh Heyhorn, Aiden Ellison, Charlie Strachan and Robbie Flanigan all finding the back of the net.

A comeback like that always tastes a little sweeter.

Last up, the Blacks took on Bowral Penguins in a tough contest that kept everyone on their toes.

The Penguins struck early and defended well, but the Blacks never stopped pushing. Their persistence paid off in the final quarter when Lauren Hogan scored an absolute cracker to level the scores and finished with a 1-1 draw.

Not every week can be all wins and hat-tricks, but there was plenty to like across the board this weekend, including a gutsy comeback, a spectacular equaliser and another solid hit-out from all three teams.

On to Round 10 Sporties which also signifies half way through this season 🦅🏑

GAME DAY // Saturday 13th June - Round 9

After a week off for the June long weekend, the birdies are back and ready to dust off the sticks, stretch out the hammies and see if anyone remembers how to play hockey.

Even better, the weather is shaping up to be a balmy 18°C. Break out the shorts, folks, Winter days like this are limited 😉

Game Day Schedule

🏑 4:15pm - Women’s Purples vs Robertson (Field 1)

🏑 4:15pm - Men’s vs Bowral Wallabies (Field 2)

🏑 5:35pm - Women’s Blacks vs Bowral Penguins (Field 1)

The Purples will be looking to keep climbing the ladder, the fellas will be keen to regain momentum, and the Blacks will be chasing another strong performance as they continue their impressive season.

Three teams. Three games. One very pleasant winter’s afternoon.

Let’s go Sporties! 🦅

GAME DAY // Saturday 30th May - Round 9

It’s a quieter weekend on the turf for the Sporties, with only the fellas taking the field while many of our ladies are off representing at the NSW Women’s Masters in Parkes.

We’d like to wish all of our Masters players the very best of luck for the tournament. We know you’ll do the Sporties and the Southern Highlands proud.

Back on home turf, the boys will be looking to keep their momentum rolling as they take on Moss Vale.

Game Day Schedule

12:15pm - Men’s 3rd Grade vs Moss Vale (Field 1)

With no ladies games on the schedule this week, the fellas will be carrying the Sporties flag solo. No pressure, boys.

Whether you’re heading to Parkes, heading to the turfs, or simply enjoying the long weekend, we hope it’s a great one.

Good luck to our Masters ladies, good luck to the boys, and as always… go Sporties! 🦅🏑
