Yesterday marked our final rounds of the season, and yet again there’s opportunity to applaud some fine efforts. With the Blues since his junior days, Troy Wills has evolved into a class act on and off the field. Although we didn’t take a win against ladder leaders Robbo at Hampden Park, Troy showed what he’s got as opening bowler, dismissing two of Robbo’s best in no time and picking up this week’s Graham’s Blinds and Security Player of the Match honour. Steady-as-ever Nashie was our best with the bat.
At Stephens Park, Sean McNeilage was our All Seasons Property player of the match. We bowled first and made a go of holding the Bowral Beetles back to 157, Binsey and Barnsey the chief destroyers with two wickets each. Sean was tight and tidy with a wicket of his own. We were on our way with the bat, Priyan and Gav digging in well before misjudging. Sean at 5 had his back against the wall as more wickets fell and the overs dwindled, but made something of it, whamming out 47, not enough for a win, but enough to remind us that cricket is embedded in his DNA.
To our players and their families and friends, thank you for being part of the season 25/26 ride. To our sponsors, The Scottish Arms Hotel, Nuestar, Jess and the team at All Seasons Property, and Graham’s Blinds and Security, thank you for making the ride possible.
