In this video, Gabriel and I take you through the key fundamentals needed to develop a stronger, more reliable and more consistent backhand.

We cover:
✔️ Grip
✔️ Stance
✔️ Unit turn
✔️ When to split step
✔️ Rally progression from simple exchanges through to full baseline-to-baseline rallying

This lesson is designed to help new learners, developing players, parents and coaches better understand how to build the backhand correctly through a clear step-by-step progression.

We are proud to have been working with Thomas Hassall Anglican College for many years, delivering weekly tennis sessions to their students.

Our school tennis program is designed to make tennis fun, engaging, and accessible while helping students develop coordination, balance, movement skills, focus, and confidence. Through structured activities and enjoyable games, students stay active, learn new skills, and build a positive connection with sport.

We thank Thomas Hassall Anglican College for their continued support and look forward to continuing to help students enjoy the game of tennis.

🎾 New Forehand Video Out Now 🎾

Gabriel and I have put together a 13-step forehand groundstroke lesson showing the key fundamentals needed to build a strong and reliable shot.

We cover stance and balance, grips, split step, unit turn and more, progressing all the way through to a successful baseline to baseline rally.

This is the first in a weekly video series where we’ll be covering all the major shots in tennis.

I’m Stewart Whicker, Head Coach of the Marconi Tennis Academy, a Master Club Professional with Tennis Australia, and a Grand Slam coach.
