King Ash Bay Fishing Club Inc The statement ‘come for the fishing – stay for the lifestyle’ says much about King Ash Bay. It’s not all about Barramundi. Visitors come in all shapes and sizes.

With 500 acres of land (under lease from the NT Government) right on the bank of the McArthur River, there is space for many camping options and lifestyles apart from fishing. The club is in many respects a small self sufficient township, generating it’s own power, supplying good quality water from a bore and providing many of the other services you would expect in a small community. Each dry season (commencing around Easter), the King Ash Bay community swells with the arrival of members and visitors who come to enjoy the great ‘winter’ weather, the fishing and the lifestyle. Many others drop in for a few days or a few weeks as part of a more extensive visit to Northern Australia. All are made to feel welcome and many return again and again after an initial taste of the King Ash Bay experience. They camp here staying in caravans, camper trailers, motor homes, tents, swags and busses. Barramundi fishing is something that excites most of the visitors to King Ash Bay. Our waterways are full of an enormous range of species, but the Barra fishing is why they keep coming back. Your well behaved dog is welcome, providing it is under control at all times. Cats are not permitted. We do not take bookings as we have bush camping (designated areas not sites) Call into the office on arrival for check-in. Please note: we do not have a takeaway alcohol licence so you will need to bring it with you. If you are going to a powered site make sure you have a good length extension lead for easier access.

What a fantastic turnout for our August Fishing Competition! We had a massive 75 entrants, and we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who entered and got involved. 👏

The weather certainly made you work for it! 💨🎣 It was very windy out there, but you all did an amazing job sticking it out and getting amongst the fish! Well done to everyone who braved the conditions.

A special thank you also goes to all of our staff and volunteers who put in the time and effort to help make the competition happen. We couldn’t do it without you! ❤️
