MATCH WRAPS

WEST WYALONG 52 - 15 GOLDILOCKS

The Goldilocks had 5 seriously tough girls head over to West Wyalong yesterday. They all put their best foot forward against last year's Grand Finalists, and a big thankyou to West Wyalong for assisting to make sure the game went ahead. Some great long range tries and moments of brilliance in attack kept the scoreboard ticking over - and the girls will be looking forward to the second half of the year with a few more home games. Plenty to build on, just need a few more bodies at training and on game day.

3 points: Sienna Reid
2 points and Player's Player: Eden Barnett
1 point: Madie Penrose
Richard's Pick: Harmony Mewburn and Mollie McKinley

GOLDIES 24 - WEST WYALONG 21

The men in Gold were tested yesterday by a large and tough squad from out west. In what was a very different result from the second round last year, West Wyalong piled the pressure on throughout the match and made Boorowa turn the ball over too many times for their liking. A very scrappy win, but a bonus point on the ladder will help the sore bodies this morning.

Tries: Keagan Size Henry McMurray and Pat Johnson (2)
Conversions: James Green (2)

3 points - Pat Johnson
2 points - Isaac Norton
1 point - Benny K
Player's Player - George Chudleigh
Chick's Pick - Lachie Gaffney

Time for both squads to get big numbers to training ahead of Temora away next weekend. Now is the time to prepare for a strong second half of the season.

GAME DAY

GOLDILOCKS 2PM

Eden Barnett
Madie Penrose
Harmony Mewburn
Mollie McKinley
Sienna Reid

The Locks are down on troops today but will be big in heart. The experience of Penrose, McKinley and Mewburn will mix well with the backline skills of Barnett and Reid. This is a throwback to the Goldilocks first ever game in 2022 at West Wyalong and the girls out west have always played in great spirit and in strong support of the Locks. Expect a great example of club footy today.

The men in Gold are looking to minimise mistakes in play today against a big West Wyalong squad. The 2 forward packs will be going at it all day in some traditional set piece footy. Expect points and plenty of them. Always a great tussle between these two.

It's always a great day around the fire out West.

GOLDIES HANG ON

Boorowa 19 v 12 Cootamundra

In a very tough contest, both teams had very limited numbers and relied on their starters to play big minutes. A few celebrity appearances for the Gold Men, and as expected, as least one turned up to play with no boots.
Inspired leadership from Captain Mark Poplin, and some very tough work from the forwards in the absence of Sizey and Flanno, the boys ran out winners 3 tries to.2.

More to come.

The Goldies are at home for the second time this season, with a huge game against Cootamundra. Usual Skipper Keagan Size is on Rep Duty up in Tamworth at the NSW Country Champs, so most capped Goldie Mark Poplin will lead his men around the park today. A few key injuries will hurt the Gold Men, but there is some quality on the bench ready to go and will step up.
Salmon and Cook are big ins for this week, and expect plenty of points of a dry track today.

Bet of the Day
Norton and McMurray to step up and show their big games potential, Greeny 75% off the tee, Poplin to score, Front Row and Second Row to step up for some key outs. Bilbo most popular. Gerard to ask for a spell.
Paying $13.45

Get up to the Showground for a great arvo of footy.

Goldilocks have the bye.

Full bar and canteen facilities. Back to after.

Tough results in Harden. Well done to the Devils and She-Devils on a great day, and 50 years of rugby club. No doubt a few sore heads around the twin towns this morning.

The Goldies have Cootamundra at home next Saturday, the 'Locks have a rest.

Madie Penrose (c)
Harmony Mewburn
Sienna Reid
Kirsty Taylor
Jess White
Georgie Constance
Mollie McKinley
*hopefully a few celebrity appearances*

The Goldilocks may be light on numbers today, but they will be massive in spirit as they take on the She-Devils who have been in good form in their return to the competition this yead. Expect big things from Madie, Harmony and Kirsty in the set piece, while they will get early clean ball to Sienna, Jess and Georgie to poke holes in the defence. It will be a tough game out there, and we hope a few extra numbers may appear from the Goldilocks contacts throughout the day.

The Goldies are yet to hit the form of 2025, but there were glimpses of this last weekend against the Yabbies. The boys know that Harden will be chomping at the bit to get at them today, especially with a huge crowd for their 50th Anniversary Ball tonight. We are not one to compliment Harden often, but they deserve to celebrate long and hard this evening for a great 50 years of success on and off the park. On the field this arvo, expect anything to happen. The ball will be flinging from side to side, with a fast track expected and plenty of points of offer. Expect Harden's backline to test the Goldies, and if the game is to be won by the Gold, it will be up front. See you there for an epic Grand-Final replay.

Bet of the Day:
McGrath to score, Mewburn most metres, Greeny 75%+ with the boot, Bilbo to shine with ball in hand, and a former match-winner off the bench to feature in the backline on attack, but also zero tackles. Paying $12.55

See you there for a great day of country footy. As always, back to Boorowa Hotel for yarns and tall tales.
