The girls are ready to go V Young, and are on the call out for a few more numbers. Injuries have cruelled the Locks this season, and with a home game stretch, it's a perfect opportunity for a few to dust off the boots. Young always are a class outfit, and points will be flowing this arvo on a dry track. Kim is welcomed back after injury and will lead the girls around the paddock. Harmony, Mikaela and Madie bring their huge work rate up front, while Siena and Jess will be keys with ball in hand. Plenty of time before 2pm for a social media edit to add 5 or 6 more names on this list!

Rumour has it the jerseys are still soaking in the Treasurer's bath-tub after the wet and muddy win over Grenfell last weekend, and a few scars hurt the boys also with Benny K and Isaac Norton both facing lengthy injury lay-offs. Bob Dylan shifts to the flank, and Man of the Match Tommy Richardson goes up front with Marts and Sizey to create a commanding front row. With Patty and Flanno having their contracted stints for Kyrgystanian and French Rugby respectively, Harry Merriman and Ish McGuiness get their deserved moves into the starting lineup for this home fixture. A stacked bench is where this game could be won or lost, and the Goldies will look for the experience of Berry, Alexander and Stirzaker to provide from the pine. Look for Gaffney, Moore and Coble to lift the energy in the backline when they get their opportunity also. Poplin returns for game 643 after losing 4 or 5 fingernails on the bench last weekend watching the backs battle a wet and muddy Gilbert. A dry track will have the veteran chomping at the bit to get the Gold Cotton back on.

Goldies 36 V Grenfell 15

It was a tough, rainy, muddy day for the boys on Saturday as they headed to Grenfell to continue the season.
A hugely different starting lineup due to a few injuries and some mid-season sojourns that will feature at Kangaroo Court later in the year. The Goldies struggled to get off the bus and Grenfell ran in two quick tries down the outside from length that had the boys concerned. The piggies solidified and took the game head on throughout their scrum, resulting in two penalty tries to gain some momentum. Adam Hick finished off a nice counter attack in the corner to lead at the half.
The Men in Gold were put to the test by a Grenfell side that made the most of open space, and kept the backline defence guessing all day. Tries to Keagan Size, George Chudleigh and Adam Hick stretched the lead through the second half and the Goldies took the win, with the scoreboard looking more comfortable than the game was for Boorowa.
Unfortunately, significant injuries to Benny Klose and Isaac Norton in the last 10 minutes of the game took the shine off the win, and we wish the boys a speedy recovery.
Tom Richardson, Dylan Piper-Bye, The Harborne Brothers and Adam Hick were huge all day, with Luke Dean, Rob Strizaker, Bilbo and Tom Cook all provided direction and big plays in crucial moments. A game that the Goldies can take a lot from, especially with the minutes from the bench and a bunch of new fellas in the starting lineup.

The men in Gold welcome back their Skipper Sizey this week and see condiserable changes in the starting line up. Dylan, Dean, Merriman and Moore get their chance in the starting line up, while Green moves to 15, as Poplin will have to wait for appearance 675 due to injury.
The boys know that Grenfell are always very strong at home, and they expect a tough game after their first round encounter. Expect the piggies to dictate play, as Harborne and Norton are building a great combination in the loose forwards. A new look centre pairing has the backline excited, with plenty of size and skill in free space.
The bench is a mixed bag of youth and experience, and will no doubt provide an injection when needed. Expect points in a wet encounter - kicking in play and off the tee will help determine today's results.

MATCH REPORT- Round 8
Condo VS Boorowa

Twenty Rams made the trip to Boorowa yesterday for Round 8 and our second crack at the reigning premiers. The Goldies put on a fantastic day of rugby and once again showed why they're the benchmark of the competition. They're a disciplined, experienced outfit with a forward pack full of absolute fridge freezers.

The opening 20 minutes from the Rams was nothing short of outstanding. Our young side came out firing, running set piece moves so fancy a couple of old boys reckoned they should've come with subtitles.

The Goldies opened the scoring early but missed the conversion. The Rams answered back almost immediately when George Simiana crossed the chalk after a brilliant pick and drive. TBone added the extras before Josh Payne crashed over shortly after with a beauty of a try. Once again TBone split the sticks and, after 20 minutes, the Rams found themselves leading 14-5.

At that stage, a few of us were quietly wondering if an upset might be on the cards….
Unfortunately, premiers don't become premiers by accident.
The Goldies hit back with three converted tries before the break to take a 26-14 lead into halftime.

The second half saw the home side gradually gain the upper hand. Our defence, which had been putting some very large Goldies on their backsides all afternoon, started to feel the effects of a tough contest. Boorowa managed to sneak over for a few more tries and eventually ran away with the result. The score at the final whistle was 52-14.

The scoreboard doesn't reflect just how well the boys played. Considering the injuries we're carrying and the fact we were up against the best side in the competition, every Ram should be stoked with that effort. It was one of the fastest, cleanest and classiest games of country rugby we've seen in a long time.

Tom Clemson had a blinder at halfback, controlling the game and keeping the boys on track, while Sam Nixon worked his usual magic at fullback. It's just a shame all that talent disappears when someone hands him a beer.

A special shoutout goes to Josh Thompson, our best on ground. Massive hits, strong carries, slick little passes and not a single backward step all afternoon. For the full 80 minutes he simply refused to let anyone through. Outstanding effort.

It was also fantastic to have our skipper make the trip. While he's still on the sidelines, having him there guiding the boys, keeping everyone accountable and supporting the team was invaluable. We can't wait to have him back on the paddock where he belongs.

A huge thank you to coach Greg Wynn, all the supporters who made the trip, the match officials and Boorowa for their outstanding hospitality. You won't find a better rugby club to visit, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

As always, the result didn't stop the celebrations. TBone got hold of the piano at the Boorowa pub and turned a few heads. It's believed he signed at least three autographs before the night was over. The drive home was a reminder that country rugby is the only sport where a loss can still end with everyone having an absolute ball. How good is Bush Footy.

The boys are back in town. Hosting the competition dark horses in the Condo rugby club. Having only returned to the comp last year, Condo has built a team well worthy of making a Grand Final push later in the year. Boorowa will have to be at their absolute best to mix it with the cast of thousands Condo will pack the bus with. Big outs for The Gold include Captain Sizey, last year's Best and Fairest Justin Flannery and legend of the front row Marty Corcoran. Club stalwart and possible 900 gamer Mark Poplin will lead his men out today, and it is a very well balanced side, with skill, Size and speed across the park and a bench featuring Premiership players and a few surprise packets. Expect the lineout to reach new heights with a debutant on the field.
Expect Pat Johnson and Flame Golden to pair well in the centres, while Cook and Bilbo are building nicely in the halves. The loose forwards have had plenty of games together this year, and Slippery finally gets his chance back in the pigs where he believes he belongs - which is odd considering he is the best 12 in country rugby. Fresh off his 22nd birthday, Slippery will be itching to make an impact.

Expect points, free flowing footy, and empty eskies after the game, as both of these clubs love a few travla beer 's in the sheds after.

WEST WYALONG 52 - 15 GOLDILOCKS

The Goldilocks had 5 seriously tough girls head over to West Wyalong yesterday. They all put their best foot forward against last year's Grand Finalists, and a big thankyou to West Wyalong for assisting to make sure the game went ahead. Some great long range tries and moments of brilliance in attack kept the scoreboard ticking over - and the girls will be looking forward to the second half of the year with a few more home games. Plenty to build on, just need a few more bodies at training and on game day.

The men in Gold were tested yesterday by a large and tough squad from out west. In what was a very different result from the second round last year, West Wyalong piled the pressure on throughout the match and made Boorowa turn the ball over too many times for their liking. A very scrappy win, but a bonus point on the ladder will help the sore bodies this morning.
