PENNANTS ROUND 2 AT BINALONG

Boorowa Golf Club kept it's good form going last Sunday at Binalong in the second round of the Pennants. The Binalong course was an absolute picture and a credit to their club, with a great lunch and hospitality as always.
It was a tight match play, with the final result being 3-2. Wins to J Stuart, G Traynor and G Murray secured the team win as they move to Clover Leigh this weekend.

Congratulations to Di Sykes (pictured) who kept her red-hot form alive by winning the Ladies Stableford and the Long Drive off the 13th tee. J Stuart also got the long drive for the Men's. Mumbo cleaned up by winning the raffle and is now the owner of a brand new golf bag.

Clover Leigh Pennants is Sunday 31st May.

10 ladies enjoyed glorious May weather competing in the Felicity Corcoran Trophy. Despite many lost balls(damn that Ryan’s Creek) everyone has success in their Eclectic scores! Special congratulations to Jenny Twarloh and Leanne Farrell who were awarded the Mabel MacKenzie Brooch for Division 2 and Division 3 respectively. This is a state wide Veteran’s competition!

SMALL CLUB PENNANTS ROUND 1

Boorowa Golf Club was thrilled to host 52 players from Binalong GC, Clover Leigh GC and Bigga GC on Sunday 3rd May for the first round of the small club pennants.

The Boorowa Team performed well on a fast, dry course, winning the MatchPlay over Binalong 4 matches to 1, with wins for J Stuart, G Jones, V Lesslie and G Traynor (in a nail-biting 18th hole comeback).

BGC also took out first place in the stableford, with P Johnston taking the overall 1st place with 38 points. C Glover from Binalong was runner up.

Boorowa took the overall lead in the stableford competition also, with 40-odd points on the day.

Onto Binalong for round 2 on 24th May.

A huge thankyou to Felicity, Katrina and Steph for cooking a delicious lunch for all golfers and to the club staff and all volunteers for looking after the course. Special mention to Elliott Fisher and Pete Sykes for organising and donating a great bottle of scotch and 3 bottles of red for the raffle.

TEE BOXES STILL UNDER RENOVATION

As most know, our club has invested a lot of time, resources and volunteers hours towards updating our tee boxes with new turf and irrigation. This has been a huge undertaking by volunteers.

The tee boxes are still not in use, as they need time to grow and settle. Alternate tee boxes are clearly marked all over the course, and new tee boxes roped/taped off.

Unfortunately, two new renovated tee boxes have been used, despite being roped off. Large divots have been put in the new turf. To say this is disappointing is an understatement.

If you are a member or visitor playing the course, please stick to alternate tees. If you have kids playing the course, please remind them to follow the alternate tees and not to use any roped/taped off areas.

This club is run entirely by volunteers, so any assistance to keep the course in good shape, and improving, is greatly appreciated.

Huge thankyou to Will McGuiness for sponsoring today's Ambrose event. Tough, windy, chilly conditions made for some interesting golf throughout the day.

Winners were AA, Pete Sykes and Kelvin Gorham with a 60 net.

Boorowa hosted the SWLGA scratch teams event on Wednesday. 36 players from across the region played some great golf on a perfect day and then enjoyed a fabulous lunch. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped prepare the course or helped in anyway on the day. đź‘Ź. Temora won the A grade teams event and Boorowa won B grade team event. Congratulations to Hazel Gardiner B grade individual scratch runner up and Felicity Corcoran B grade nett winner.
