Anna’s journey is a wonderful example of staying connected to sport and giving back to the community that helped shape her own journey.

With experience as both a former swimmer and a professional in the swimming industry, Anna brings valuable technical knowledge and a well-rounded perspective to the South Shore community.

Anna’s message to anyone thinking about volunteering:
“You don’t need to attend every meeting or put your hand up for every event — just help where your schedule allows. A lot of us started with no experience, and you learn skills along the way. There are always people around to help… sometimes it’s just fake it till you make it!”

This National Volunteers Week, we're proud to celebrate the people who give everything to keep our Club going. Read Anna’s story below ⬇️ and show her your appreciation in the comments.

"Just go for it” 🌊

Irene has been doing exactly that since 2015! Her journey at South Shore started with a Splash & Dash, the following decade has seen Irene try every job and hold every role 🫶 Irene is the true definition of community spirit.

Her family stopped swimming a while ago but they are still involved - daughter Jess is one of our much loved Bronze squad coaches!

“Volunteering is very rewarding and your swimmers will enjoy you being involved. You will make new friends and make a difference”

This National Volunteers Week, we're proud to celebrate the people who give everything to keep our Club going.

| Sport and Recreation Volunteering

Every day across the country, volunteers help keep communities connected through sport and recreation.

They bring people together, organise teams and events, create opportunities to participate, and help people stay active and involved.

This week, we recognise the volunteers who give their time, energy, and care to keep these spaces running.

At a time when life feels increasingly busy, choosing to coach a team, help at training, run a fundraiser, or support a local club is something deeply valuable.

This could be your year to support others and help make participation possible.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re giving three cheers for the sports volunteers helping communities thrive.
