Usually our 100 class milestone comes with a pair of grip socks… but when you turn up through winter in shorts and a T-shirt, we figured a Gather jumper might be a little more useful.

Congratulations on 100 classes Mark 👏🏼

Yoga has often been placed in the “woo woo” basket.

Things like breathwork, meditation, energy, shat karma, asana, ayurveda… sitting quietly and paying attention to how you feel 🤯

But change the language and suddenly some of it sounds very modern.

Now we hear about nervous-system regulation, vagal tone, mobility, interoception, sleep optimisation, fasting, breath mechanics, stress resilience and longevity all the time.

Different language. Often surprisingly similar territory.

For thousands of years, yoga has been asking a surprisingly modern sounding question;

How can we consciously influence and harmonise the way we feel, move, breathe, focus and respond to the world within us and around us?

Of course, yoga is much more than a collection of wellness techniques. It carries philosophy, ethics, contemplation and bigger questions about what it means to live well.

And not every traditional idea needs to be translated into scientific language to have value.

But it is interesting that practices once dismissed as mystical are now being explored through neuroscience, physiology, psychology and longevity research.

So maybe yoga isn’t simply woo woo.

And maybe it isn’t really biohacking either.

Maybe humans have been experimenting with body, breath and consciousness for a very long time.

We’ve just changed the vocabulary.

Two years ago, Community Yoga began with a pretty simple intention; to create a place where people could come together, to practice and feel welcome.

Over time, this little community has grown with us..

Yoga has been joined by Pilates. Reformer arrived. More apparatus is on its way. We’ve shared sound, stillness, conversations, cups of tea, laughter, and all the little moments before and after class that somehow become just as important as the practice itself.

And somewhere along the way, we realised that what we’ve created here is about more than any one practice.

It’s about gathering, to move, to breathe, to learn, to rest, with people who have become familiar faces and friends.

So, as we approach our second birthday, Community Yoga is becoming..

Gather
Yoga & Pilates.

The name is changing, and our studio is continuing to evolve, but the heart of it remains exactly where it has always been.

Thank you, Community Yoga.

A little farewell to our beautiful Paige 🤎

Paige was the very first teacher we trusted to step in and teach within our Community Yoga family, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful person to share that beginning with us.

The care and attention she has brought to every class, her kind heart, and the energy she brings into the room have left a lasting impression on our little community.

We’re going to miss having her here enormously, but we’re also so excited for everything that lies ahead for her.

Thank you, Paige, for everything you’ve shared with us and with our community. We feel very lucky to have been a part of this chapter.

Wishing you so much love and happiness for the next one.

You’ll always be part of our Community Yoga family 🫶🏼

Meet Paul

Although, for most of you, Paul probably needs very little introduction.

He’s been part of the heart of our little studio from the beginning. Often the one quietly putting the kettle on, preparing tea and sharing the warmth that makes this space feel like home.

We sometimes joke that Paul is the studio glue. He might not always be the one at the front of the room, but his presence is woven through so much of what happens here.

Paul is also a Yoga teacher, with a deep interest in philosophy and how it shapes his practice. His teaching draws from Hatha and Yin Yoga, Breath work, Qigong and his ongoing exploration of Buddhist and Daoist traditions.

His classes are thoughtful and joyful, often accompanied by a story or a laugh. He brings a natural curiosity to his teaching, weaving together movement, breath and philosophy in a way that feels accessible and very much his own.

After some time away travelling and studying through China, we’re very happy to say you’ll start seeing Paul pop back onto the timetable over the coming weeks, covering a few classes before settling into a regular weekly spot of his own.

So yes, he’ll still be making the tea.
But you’ll also be seeing a little more of him at the front of the room.

Welcome back, Paulie.

In a world that celebrates constant movement, Yin Yoga offers something different.

An invitation to slow down. To soften. To listen.

Through long-held shapes, conscious stillness and the support of ALL the props 😌 we gently explore the body’s fascial and meridian systems while creating space for the nervous system to settle.

Explore YIN on TUESDAYS, 930am with Paige & on SATURDAYS, a play of both YANG & YIN, 9am with Laura.

See you in practice 🙏🏼

You may notice we don’t often share photos from inside our regular classes.

That’s intentional.

Our classes are a space for everyone to arrive exactly as they are. Tired, tender, strong, uncertain, emotional, quiet, messy, human.

We want everyone who comes into the room to feel as present as they can be in their practice, not wondering if we’ve got their good side.

Experience first. Content last.

We will always protect the privacy and comfort of everyone who practices with us.

The real magic is often the kind you don’t photograph.

It’s felt in the room.

And the best way to see what happens in class is to come and experience it for yourself.

For new clients, we currently have (2) intro offers available:

For Reformer;
$50 for 2 weeks
Includes 3 reformer classes

For Mat;
$99 for 1 month
Unlimited Yoga & Mat Pilates classes

We’d love to welcome you into the room.
