To be honest Sunday wasn't a soaring day, far too much low overdevelopment, but it was a great day for introducing friends and family to our sport. You know they are loving it when you can see the smiles from the back seat. You know they are relaxed when they wave to the ground crew on landing, and help with the retrieve.

After the rain another beautiful weekend in the skies of the scenic rim. One nice thing about wet weeks is they leave clear skies with great visibility. Saturday was a blue sky day that gave us the first wave of the season. It was narrow and not overly high but workable. When the wave weakened there were workable thermals to 5,500' at 2-4 knots despite the wind trying to break up conditions. Sunday looked even better. Of course as every glider pilot knows when its time to setup return you either encounter sink or lift. At the end of the flights, approaching the downwind leg there were nice patches of lift to adjust to. A great day had by all.

Saturday was another beautiful day at Boonah, the 10:00 lift was light but better than expected and improved for the next 5 flights. Showers around the field brought the day to an early close and by all reports Sunday was a better day with some extended flights. All that was missing was you.

When the weather is fine, its fine. This is the week before last, Arie was doing a few emergencies before going solo last weekend. Congratulations Arie. Visitors were watching for a low release or wave off. The blue conditions made for very scenic flights around the scenic rim.

After a run of seven weekends with rain and storms the weather gods were kind for the Friends and Family flying day. I think about 20 flights in all most passengers having their first experience of sailplanes. Three students (very patient and helpful students) and a few solo pilots made for an enjoyable day for all.

The weather continues to challenge. Plenty of temperature difference but the thermals can be difficult to work. Also quite a lot of high cloud last Saturday. Nevertheless, Jeremy managed a four hour flight, there were some climbs to 5,500' around the local area, and whilst there was the occasional good thermal there were more that you really had to work. Still good company and fun to be had, before the weather moved in.

The forecast last weekend was for strong thermals but with very high temperatures high pressure and storms forecast for the afternoon, we took full advantage of the clear skies of the morning and made sure students, passenger and visitors made the most of the conditions. Thermals were hard work but the view was spectacular and our guests had the privilege of soaring with eagles.

Another blue weekend, hot and broken lift but great for passenger flights and good eagle spotting conditions.

Another busy blue weekend at Boonah. All sorts of action, congratulations to Richard for his silver height gain on Saturday. Sunday was blue the forecast was for strong lift and it was there but a long way between thermals, and quite a few weak areas. Ceiling ended up at around 7,000' and between the hard to work bits there were peaks of 8-10 south around Mt. Barney.
