We started the month visiting Southern Peninsula Community Support to film footage to promote our Winter Sleepout Event; and to document the impactful work that they do every day. We have been and will continue to be airing some of this footage in the lead-up and on the night of the event. Thank you again to our RACV Cape Schanck Resort, SMART Business Solutions, Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula, Peninsula Party Hire, SolutionOne and now recently, RSL Care and Ritchies Supermarkets & Liquor. The event is really building momentum and it’s so wonderful to see the community coming together to support it! If you want to be a part of this event, please make sure you book a site. Once the sites are booked, there’ll be no other opportunity to attend the night. Unfortunately, there won’t be capacity to support walk-ins.
Az and I participated in the ‘60 secs with’ video campaign to showcase our business and show how we (do and can continue to) collaborate with other tourism businesses. Thank you to Mornington Peninsula for facilitating this initiative with the support of the Victoria State Government.
We also attended the Destination MP Tourism Industry Conference, held at the Mornington Racecourse last week. We heard from Nigel Aldons from Visit Victoria and Lisa Patroni, CEO of the Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC). Nigel presented state-level insights, current campaigns and general oversight of what that means for Victoria. Lisa touched on VTICs advocacy work and what that means for business. It’s really great to have someone so formidable advocating for our industry.
There was also a range of marketing insights from panellists (across 3 different marketing agencies); and a strategy workshop by Penny Burke who is always entertaining in delivering her helpful tips in optimising behavioural change in our customers.
May was a big month of camps, with over 700 students attending camp during the month of May. We feel very grateful to still have groups coming through our doors this time of the year, when we know it’s typically a slow time (mid-week) for other tourism businesses on the peninsula.
