I used to do overwhelm really well.
It’s actually quite simple.

Focus on EVERYTHING.
Especially the things outside your control.

These days, when I catch myself feeling overwhelmed, I know it’s a sign I need to simplify my thinking.

For me, the solution is almost always the same:
Focus on what I can control.

That’s one reason I love journaling.
Not because it magically solves problems, but because it helps separate what matters from what doesn’t.

And if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by journaling itself, here’s your reminder:
There is no wrong way.
You don’t need the perfect prompt. You don’t need pages of insight. You don’t need to keep up.
You simply need a place to start.

One of my favourite approaches when I was first building a journaling habit was what I now call:
💚 State → Identity → Free

Each day, write:
✏️ State
A few words describing how you want to feel right now.Calm. Clarity. Confidence. Ease.
✏️ Identity
One sentence describing the kind of person you’re becoming.
For example:
“I am a person who prioritises the food and movement that help me feel fit, strong, confident, and be a powerful advocate for a vegan lifestyle.”
✏️ Free
Write whatever comes up.

No rules. No timeframe. No judgement.
Just a few minutes of honesty with yourself.

I’ve shared many journaling methods over the years, but this remains one of the simplest and most effective.

💚 Tomorrow's 2-6-9 is all about freedom.
Not the "do whatever you want" kind.

The kind that comes from questioning habits you've never examined.
Beliefs you've inherited.
And systems that profit when we look away.

Inside this week's email:

The longer I coach, the less interested I become in motivation.
Motivation comes and goes.

What matters is the decision you make when motivation isn’t there.

This client had a difficult few days.
The difference?
Instead of reacting emotionally, she focused on the next decision.
One meal.
One snack.
One walk.

That’s how confidence gets built.
Not from perfect weeks.
From supportive decisions on imperfect days.

Most people have a plan for their 10/10 days.
You know the days:
✨ Motivated
✨ Food prep done
✨ Plenty of time and energy

My 10/10 might look like dense bean salads, burger bowls, Upside-Down Plates and all the sexy sauces.
The more useful question?
What does your 2/10 day look like?
Because those are the days that really matter.
The days you're tired. Work runs late.
And you really can't be bothered.

My 2/10 might be:
🥬 Mixed leaves
🍔 A frozen vegan burger
💚 Hummus
That's it.
Not perfect. Not exciting. Still a win.

My 4/10 might be:
🫘 Canned beans or lentils
🌈 Rainbow salad
🌶️ A shake of spices
🌱 H**p seeds

My 6/10 might be:
🍠 Sweet potato
🥦 Broccoli
🫘 Lentil and quinoa mix
🤍 Tofu ricotta

The goal isn't to have all 10/10 days.
It's to stop 2–4/10 days becoming 0/10 days.
The people who stay consistent aren't always more motivated.
They simply have a plan for the days motivation disappears. 💚

A while ago, this client might have seen cravings as proof she’d failed.

That’s a completely different skill.
Because success isn’t about never having cravings.
It’s about knowing what to do when they arrive.

The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is avoiding the spiral. 💚
