10/05/2021
Fundraiser for the Bomo Dog Bowl is this Saturday 15/5/2021 and there are still places available in both sessions.
To answer some of the questions I have received:
* We provide all the gear - kayaks, paddles, backrests (for extra comfort) and PFDs (Personal Floatation Devices). You just need to wear clothes to paddle in (shorts, shirt and shoes - thongs or old joggers), hat and sunscreen, and a towel/jumper for when you get off the water.
* This activity is suitable for people who have not paddled before. You will receive instruction on how to paddle correctly and there will be experienced guides on the water with you at all times.
* This activity is suitable for people of all fitness levels. If you are a daily, casual stroller or you like to run 10 kms a day, you should be able to handle a 2 hour cruise up the creek and back.
* We will be using double kayaks so you will not be in a kayak by yourself. If you don't have someone to paddle with, we will find you a crew member.
* As we will be using double kayaks, this activity is suitable for a parent with a child (recommended minimum age of around 10 years).
* The kayaks are sit-on-top, so they are easy to get on to and off of, especially for people with limited range of motion because of hip or knee conditions. If you are able to sit on the ground with your legs straight out in front of you comfortably, you will be able to paddle. The kayaks will be fitted with backrests for extra comfort.
* Following recent heavy rains and moderate flooding in the area, we paddled the creek yesterday (Monday 10/5/2021). The water flow and the level of debris in the water is back to a safe level. With no further significant rain, conditions should be perfect by Saturday.
If you have any other questions, please pop them in the comments below and we will answer them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.
