Ridin Solo shines in the bright lights once again!
Ridin Solo has put together a hall of fame career over the years, and the first bull in the history of the American Bucking Bull Inc. and PBR to win a Futurity World Title and a PBR Bull of the Year Title. He has put together a string of nearly (120) outs between competition and PBR events. Ridin Solo has cashed in more than $270,000 in Lifetime Earnings plus the $100,000 bonus he just received for 2022 PBR World Champion Bull!
The beginning started in Dickson, Oklahoma just south of highway 70 on the ranch of Curtis Peoples. Ridin Solo was born in 2016, sired by Peoples -31 (22 Wildfire) and out of 319 Miss Ridin Solo (10-5 Crosswired). Ridin Solo was the very first calf for the cow branded 319 and an own daughter of past Classic World Champion Crosswired. On the sire side, Peoples -31 was a competition bull for Curtis that struggled just a little on the road. He was a son of 22 Wildfire which back to Wild Child, Backlash, and Showtime. The genetics were there, and Curtis loved the looks of 612 Ridin Solo from the very beginning. The very first competition trip for Ridin Solo was at the 2017 American Heritage Yearling Futurity where he was marked 71.83 to finish 55th in the competition. Three months later Curtis took him to the TwoBulls Challenge Yearling Feature where Ridin Solo put together a respectable trip of 87.25 points to pick up his first check worth $3,024. Ridin Solo was well on his way to a futurity season to remember when Cord McCoy approached Peoples about purchasing the bovine athlete. Ridin Solo had a hair trigger in the box and was a little hard to get out on, but Cord knew if he could settle him it could be the best investment he has ever made in the bull business.
Cord McCoy and Steve Best ended up sealing the deal with Curtis and getting Ridin Solo purchased from Peoples right before the ABBI’s Spring Fling competition. The first trip after the transaction, Solo fell and received a 0. In 2018 bulls could double enter the Cowgirl Futurity and Open Futurity classes which ultimately led Ridin Solo and Sara Best-McCoy to a Cowgirl’s Futurity Gold Buckle as well as an ABBI Futurity World Championship Title in the same year. To this point, Ridin Solo had been entered about thirty (30) time with a dummy, and Cord felt like Ridin Solo was just now hitting his stride. It was now time for a rider and his PBR UTB debut came in Tulsa, Oklahoma in August of his three year old year, where Mason Taylor rode him for 82 points. The more he was entered and the more he figured out the rider game, Ridin Solo put together and outstanding Derby and Classic competition run. Solo made his first appearance to the PBR World Finals in 2019 as a three year old where he put together two outstanding trips. In 2020 Ridin Solo was crowned the ABBI Classic Reserve World Champion behind 124 Woopaa. Last year 2021, Ridin Solo was once again edged out by 124 Woopaa for the PBR World Champion Bull title.
2022 was a dog fight between the two bovine athletes, Ridin Solo and Woopaaa. They were exchanging in the one and two spots in the standings every single week it seemed like. Ridin Solo had a great season with (13) outs leading up to the PBR World Finals in Fort Worth (Texas). He had a season high marking of 47.5 points in Little Rock, Arkansas where he bucked off Dalton Kasel in 4.65 seconds. As it came down to the wire, Ridin Solo put together three trips at the finals that just could not be bested including two 47 point trips to ultimately be crowned the 2022 PBR World Champion Bucking Bull.
Congratulations to Curtis Peoples and his family for raising such and amazing bovine athlete and to Cord, Sara, Tulsa and the entire McCoy family for taking Ridin Solo to such and elite level in the bucking bull industry! With a career that is still young, Ridin Solo has been an exciting bull to watch and see his career unfold from the very beginning!
