How has Pilates Impacted overall wellbeing, both physically and mentally ?

Pilates provides a focus that successfully supports both my mental and physical health. Anxiety has been an ongoing problem for many years and , since attending Pilates, anxiety episodes and panic attacks have diminished remarkably.
Physically I’m stronger and my posture is noticeably more erect. 13 weeks ago I had a right total knee replacement and my doctor and physiotherapist agree that my recovery has been remarkable. Because of Pilates, I am able to do things others have found challenging. Lifting my leg up into bed and getting out of a chair are two examples. My doctor estimates that I am about 6 weeks ahead of the curve. I returned to Pilates three weeks post operatively.

What is advice would you give someone who is new to piates or thinking of starting?

Results take time and initially you start to be aware of your body and its musculature. Being able to isolate specific muscles is a revelation!😁The next step is strengthening each muscle group. This is beneficial in day to day activities that may have caused pain or even injury.

What got you into Pilates and how long have you been practicing?
�I was doing a workout with friends. When we got to crunches "which in my mind I could do" except I couldn't. After a long laugh at myself we decided I need to do something more. I've been coming to Pilates for 2 years now.

How had Pilates helped you improve your flexibility and strength?
�Initially I found muscles I never knew existed and after a few weeks of constant clams, dead bugs, flutter kicks and 100's to name a few I started to notice I was gaining tone all over. I even felt taller with my new found posture.

What keeps you motivated to stick to Pilates?
�Pilates for me personally is an investment in my future health and wellbeing. Pilates is a social outing with the added bonus of health benefits going forwards

How would you describe the atmosphere in our Pilates classes?
�It's a beautiful group of like minded woman out to improve their physical health. The workouts are as hard as you want them to be and the banter and laughing is contagious.

How do you feel when you leave a Pilates session?
�I feel energised, calm, happy and relaxed all at the same time. It's definitely my Happy place to come.

What would you tell someone who is hesitant to try Pilates?
�Please come along and give it a try, you've got nothing to loose but if you like it so much to gain.

Meet Belinda – Owner & Instructor at Thrive Movement

Hi, I’m Belinda – a Clinical Pilates instructor with a passion for helping people build strong, mobile bodies that support lifelong health and vitality.
I’ve been practicing Pilates since 2005 and became a qualified instructor in 2008. Early in my teaching journey, I found my niche: older adult fitness. What began with just a few classes quickly grew into a vibrant, welcoming community of like-minded individuals all working toward one goal — to thrive in their bodies.

In 2023, I opened Thrive Movement in the beautiful Lockyer Valley. After exploring several venues, we found our perfect home at the Blenheim Public Hall. With peaceful views of rolling hills and nearby farms, it's the ideal setting for movement, mindfulness, and connection.

At Thrive Movement, our Pilates classes are tailored for all fitness levels — from complete beginners to experienced movers. Each session focuses on:
* Building strength
* Increasing mobility
* Improving balance and posture
* Enhancing breath control
You'll leave feeling refreshed, empowered, and supported — inside and out.

Over the past 17 years, I’ve helped hundreds of clients improve strength, prevent injury, and rediscover confidence in their bodies. Along the way, we’ve created something truly special: a supportive, uplifting community and many lifelong friendships.
