THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR THE COAL CAPITAL!

Blackwater's Coal Capital Speedway is set to return to racing next season after a fresh $1million electrical installation and a new catch fence.
"I have to admit, I got a little emotional when we first switched the lights on,” Club President Nathan Pershouse said.

“From the traffic lights to the light poles and the racing light globes, plus all new underground wiring, it’s essentially a completely new electrical system. The place lights up like a Christmas tree and we can’t wait to get our calendar out and have everyone out to show off the upgrades.”

Following the electrical installation will now be the new catchfence poles and mesh to complete a project that has been 3 years in the making.

“We’d like to thank the Central Highlands Regional Council for their amazing support and Enwise Electrical for their expert advice, former member of the House of Representatives, Ken O’Dowd, and former Speedway Australia officer Adam Brook for his assistance with the grant application that was submitted by David McMahon at Sports Grants QLD.”

Special thanks also to Will and Harry from Black Rocket Aerospace for the drone photos.

Exciting

Tonight let’s test out the new track lights.

After months of undergoing electrical upgrades tonight we get to test the track lighting.

We had a surprise for Tyson letting him turn on the track lights for the first time.
Tyson is a local guy that has a massive heart for speedway. Has helped out on working bees and keeps me updated with the upgrades since it has started with his weekly visits to see where it’s at.

Catch fence will be next then let’s go racing.

🏎💨 Track grounds update 🏁🏁🏁

09/03/2021

‼️‼️Venue Information‼️‼️

Coal Capital Speedway is locked

Due to the recent power pole safety concerns

Between ourselves and local council the last few weeks the grounds at the speedway are locked.
Due to falling power and lighting poles.

For the safety of our spectators, racers and volunteers there will be no meeting held until such time as the poles are removed by council.

The local council have done an outstanding job undergoing testing on all poles in the grounds and are quickly rectifying the issue.

Once the club receives more info we will be sure to let you know.
