Breif History:
Using the original dairy and small crop farm land, the Howard and Weston family came up
with the idea to create a golf course, thus the family names were combined and Howeston Golf Course was born. When the course first opened in 1972, it was originally 9 holes before expanding to 18 holes in 1979. Howeston was run as a 18 hole course for twenty-four years, until 2003, when another 9 holes were developed and merged with the original 18, forming a full length 27 hole course. From these 27 holes come three unique 9 hole courses, the Howard, the Weston and the Westward nines, which provide the opportunity for a golfer to play a different combination each week to form their 18 hole round. The Howeston Pro-Am is an annual event usually held in September/October and is the second longest running event on the Queensland Sunshine Circut. In 2001 the Howeston Pro-Am was a finalist in the PGA's Metroplitan Tournament of the Year. Howeston has also hosted the Queensland PGA Championships and the QLD PGA Foursomes events. Weston won the QLD PGA Chairmans Award for outstanding contribution to golf.
