THANK YOU, CALLUM GOODE!
After nearly a decade at the Bulls, weβd like to sincerely thank Callum Goode for his outstanding commitment to the Birchip-Watchem Football Club and wish him well for the future.
Callum first arrived at Birchip-Watchem in the 2017 season, coinciding with taking up a teaching job at Birchip P-12 School. He was a regular in the Bulls reserves team from 2017-2021, making his mark as a reliable tall forward with an accurate kick for goal.
In 2022, Callumβs work took him to Geelong and we conceded that his football would probably too. But as luck would have it, after a few games in Geelong a return trip to the bull pen to attend a ball saw him fill in for the reserves for the day. His love of the club was reignited and he agreed to return for the remainder of the season.
It turned out to be a highlight year for Callum, as he kicked 25 goals from the remaining 10 games in the reserves and also took on water boy duties for the seniors who went on to win the premiership.
In what was an immense travelling effort, from 2023-2025, Callum continued to travel from Geelong to Birchip every week to don the purple, green and white. As well as his reliability in the reserves team, he took on duties running the whiteboard for the seniors, his calm demeanour and knowledge of the game of great help to the senior coaches he worked alongside. He was also a regular fixture at Birchip Watchem social functions. His commitment and love for the club unquestionable.
2026 we hoped it would be business as usual with Callum in the #30, but after starting the season in his usual role, love has pulled him away and he has joined Wedderburn to play alongside his partner, Paige. A day we hoped would never come but one we very much understand and respect. We hope that Wedderburn know how lucky they are to have your services.
Callum finishes his Bulls career with 110 games and 160 goals and a club full of friends.
Thank you, "The Goode Thing", for nearly a decade of loyalty, commitment and friendship to the Bulls. Players who keep coming back year after year are a huge part of what makes community clubs special, and Callum has certainly been one of those people. Once a Bull, always a Bull. πππ€
