WAHT IS HO-SHIN?
호신 (護身 / Ho-shin); The smallest range meaning is a Self-Defense. But that includes important philosophy and meaning more than self-defense . First, Ho-shin means good control over both your own body and mind. Without good control, we can’t train martial arts together (Self-control / Self-discipline / Self defense). Second, if you can take care of yourself, you can take care of your family. Yes, Ho-shin include to protect our family. 護家 ( 호가 / Ho-Ga). Third, You can protect your community and country if you have great ho-shin & ho-ga. That means we are ready to protect our community and country well. We call ho-guk (護國 / 호국 / protecting our country). We always say “Ho-shin” in Dojang because we always need great control / focus / positive energy / leadership / beautiful mind .... . As you know, we are saying “ho-shin!” a lot of time in our Dojang. It helps to remind these to us. Always be ready to “Ho-shin! Ho-ga! Ho-guk!” For yourself, for your family and for your country. This is meaning of HO-SHIN.
