We are pleased to announce the CTA Club Challenge for 2026 on Sunday the 21st of June.
You are invited to participate in the 2026 CTA Challenge. This is a day designed to encourage students who have never competed to have a go in a fun and safe environment. With categories designed by age to allow everyone to have a good time exploring the competitive side of Taekwondo. It is encouraged that all students from the rank of Yellow Belt (11th Gup) and above participate, with the option for more experienced white belts to participate with prior instructor's approval. All students will have the opportunity for 2 or more matches on the day.
Date: Sunday 21st of June
Start Time: 8:00am

While we understand the idea of entering a sparring competition can be intimidating for new competitors and students. We encourage as many participants as possible as this is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and make some new friends. STUDENT HIGHLIGHT,
Trish the student who inspires all of us,

Often in martial arts we get asked what inspires you in training? The answer for us is simple our students inspire and motivate us. No one embodies this more so than Trish, who shows us that determination can conquer all. Trish started training with us at 65 years of age. Continuing to train with us, gaining her blue belt at 67 and entering her first full contact tournament at 68. Trish is quickly becoming an inspiration for all that train at Christophers Taekwondo Academy.

Trish provided the following about her training at CTA.

What about training at CTA made you decide it was the club for you?

“I watched my grandsons second lesson at CTA and saw a great opportunity for my daughter, grandson and myself to get some exercise and learn self defence together.”

What do you get out of training at CTA?

“Improved flexibility, strength and balance. Memorising Taekwondo patterns and techniques has also been great for my memory and brain.”

How do you find the community aspect of the club?

“It’s such a friendly community that is both supportive and encouraging of each other. I usually leave training feeling uplifted.”

What advice would you give to someone your age looking to get into martial arts?

“‘Listen’ to your body, train within your upper limits, and above all have fun. Be game and give it a go!”

How old were you for your first tournament and how did you find the experience of competing?

“At 67 I competed in my first tournament at an unfamiliar venue and was apprehensive. However after lots of encouragement from the community of the club + coaches got me through it. I have since competed in more tournaments and have enjoyed each match.”
