The Bermagui Big Game Anglers Club located in the small coastal town of Bermagui was established in 1936 . The game fishery off the coast of Bermagui became known internationally by the visit of Zane Grey the world famous author and well known big game fisherman of the 1930s. The subsequent publication of "An American Angler in Australia" detailed his experiences in Bermagui including the first re

corded capture of a yellowfin tuna. The warm currents in late Spring and Summer bring a fantastic marlin bite close to the coast and in Autumn early winter yellowfin tuna and then bluefin tuna turn up along the coast. Mako sharks are a year long proposition as well as yellowtail kingfish for most of the year. Members of the BBGAC hold many NSW and Australian Records - check our records page for details, some records are still current from the 1930's and are published on our website. Bermagui Big Game Anglers Club is having to raise the cost of weighing of fish at our Weigh Station due to the ever-rising costs of maintenance and yearly upkeep with council rates, Radio Licence fees, water, power, public liability insurance, general insurance etc.
1. Members of the public who are not a member of an affiliated club with GFAA the cost will be $50.00
2. Members of an GFAA affiliated club ( Must show proof of Membership) will be $25.00
3. BBGAC Members FREE
NOTE:- Members of an GFAA affiliated club who weigh fish during a Sanctioned Tournament in Bermagui will not be charged a fee.

From the 1st of May 2026 these fees will come into effect.

We have all heard the story about the old man and the sea. Well what about 3 young blokes in little boat. Have a look at this!!!!! Sunny Risby on the boat NO CONCENT today captured a 241.8kg Blue Marlin. Sunny is a 15 year old from Tathra. And they said they lost a bigger one just before this on a double hook up. WHO says you need a big boat??? Congratulations Sunny on such a fabulous achievement

Congratulations to Tayte Gibbs on capturing his first Marlin weighing 82.4kg on 24 on SALAMANDER out of a 5.5 mtr open tinny with rear tiller steering and 4 on board. Went snapper fishing and saw marlin come up on their sounder and had a go.
