Shorinji Kempo is a Japanese martial art founded in 1947 by Doshin So. It is a discipline where an individual can strive to develop their own physical, mental and spiritual growth to become better individuals and worthwhile members of soc
iety. As a self-defence martial art style, Shorinji Kempo is characterized by defensive movements before counter attacking, utilizing a combination of strikes and joint manipulation techniques. As an organization, Shorinji Kempo's main headquarters is located in the town of Tadotsu, Kagawa Prefecture (on Shikoku island), Japan. The Shorinji Kempo Club in Perth, Western Australia was first established in 1990 at a Scouts Hall in Innaloo.
