Curtin University Shorinji Kempo - Perth Branch Shorinji Kempo, founded in Japan in 1947, teaches practical self‑defence and personal growth. Shorinji Kempo is practiced in many countries around the world.

Introduced to Perth in 1990 and now based at Curtin University, it offers a cooperative, non‑profit training environment focused on uplifting oneself and others. Shorinji Kempo is a Japanese martial art founded in 1947 by Doshin So. It is a discipline where an individual can strive to develop their own physical, mental and spiritual growth to become better individuals and worthwhile members of soc

iety. As a self-defence martial art style, Shorinji Kempo is characterized by defensive movements before counter attacking, utilizing a combination of strikes and joint manipulation techniques. As an organization, Shorinji Kempo's main headquarters is located in the town of Tadotsu, Kagawa Prefecture (on Shikoku island), Japan. The Shorinji Kempo Club in Perth, Western Australia was first established in 1990 at a Scouts Hall in Innaloo. Later in 2009, the Club re-established itself at Curtin University and has been there ever since. Class details - Updated as of 17/09/2024

Saturdays: 8am to 10am

What to wear? Comfortable clothes with sleeve, sports pants. No tank tops. Please ensure to remove all jewellery from your person as this can result in injury to yourself and others during training. Contact

Curtin Stadium will be closed all day this Saturday due to Anzac Day and long weekend.

As a result there will be no training this Saturday 25th April.

Classes will resume as normal next week Wednesday 29th April
