Les Warren came to our Club in 1952, aged 23 and made his first appearance in the Bentleigh 1st XI in 1953-54 and played his last game for the 1sts in 1969-70. Les played on our first ever turf pitch in the 1952-53 season. In 1981 he ended his illustrious cricket career after 29 years with our Club.

He played in the Club's first-ever VJCA premiership in 1954-55 and also played in the Club's first-ever VJCA Senior Division premiership in 1968-69.

His highest 1st XI score was 78* and he took 5 wickets in an innings 7 times. His best bowling was 6-35. Les proved to be a consistent all-rounder, winning four 1st XI bowling awards and one 1st XI batting award. He was also the senior club champion on two occasions and played in three 1st XI premierships. Les captained the 1st XI for seven seasons between 1958 and 1965. He took 7/30 in the 2nds in 1977-78.

He was Club Treasurer in 1960-61, and was awarded Life Membership in 1967-68.
He was selected in the Club's Team of the Century in 2008. He was awarded Baggy Blue Cap No. 11.

Above all else, Les Warren was a dedicated club person; always keen to hear how the club was going. He was a sincere gentleman.

Les' funeral will be held at All Souls Anglican Church 48-50 Bay Road, Sandringham, on the 27th October at 10:30 am.

Vale Les Warren.
