This has been a conversation I've wanted to have for years.
Not when my students were children. But when they were ready. Ready to understand their bodies, their emotions, and the cycles that shape so much of their lives as young women.
This past week, I ran our first holistic wellbeing session: *Moving Through Cycles*.
Together, we explored the physiology of the female body, the different phases we move through each month, and how understanding those cycles can help us navigate life with greater awareness, confidence and self-compassion.
We spoke about the physical, mental and emotional shifts that can occur and practical ways to support ourselves through each phase.
What struck me most was how many lightbulb moments there were — not just for the girls, but for me too.
As teachers, parents and mentors, we spend so much time helping young people achieve. But how often do we teach them how to understand themselves?
If we can help our teenage girls feel more grounded, informed and empowered through this important stage of life, why wouldn't we?
This was one of the most meaningful sessions I've facilitated, and I'd love to bring it to other schools, dance communities and youth groups.
If you'd like to learn more about *Moving Through Cycles*, send me a DM and I'd be happy to share the details.
