Hello friends

Mindful Movement Pilates is a boutique studio for Pilates Matwork located in Bentleigh East.

Due to the high demand for more morning classes, new classes will be open on Mondays in two weeks time.

Updated Timetable:

Monday - 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 AM (in two weeks)

Tuesday- 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 AM

Thursday- 9:30, 10:30, 11:30 AM

Friday - Noon time 13:00-14:00 PM

Mindful Movement Pilates have a strong interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation, our small group mat classes will ensure that each of our clients is working hard towards their rehabilitation or fitness goals.

Whether you are doing Pilates for rehab or for fitness, every session will be tailored to your needs.

Knee pain has many causes and your knee treatment varies considerably depending on an accurate diagnosis.
Treatment can involve simple knee mobilization techniques, massage, taping, stretches or strengthening exercises.

Whether resulting from an acute injury, or overuse due to poor biomechanics or muscle imbalance, Pilates for knee pain is a good and safe rehabilitation option.

The best thing you can do is to strengthen the muscles that support your knee and keep them flexible. Start slowly, and build up over time.

Pilates is about being MINDFUL, being PRESENT being AWARE of what your doing!

Pilates exercises is the maintenance of good posture and control of movement so that it is smooth, flowing, controlled, precise and efficient.


The six Pilates principals:

Centering: All Pilates movements are initiated from the center of the body, often called the “core” or the “powerhouse”, located in the trunk area between the lowest rib and the p***c bone.

Concentration: Bringing full awareness and attention to each exercise performed, with intent to perform the exercise as correctly as skill will allow.

Control: Every Pilates exercise is completed with absolute control, with a consciousness of all body parts. Control, rather than intensity or repetition is the focus of performing Pilates exercises correctly.

Precision: There is an appropriate placement and alignment for each body part during a Pilates exercise. Precision can make the difference between activating a muscle or not, and between achieving a stabilization/strength goal or not. Having self-awareness of how your body is moving through space.

Breath: Joseph Pilates emphasized using the breath for each exercise to coordinate with the movement and fuel the “powerhouse”, believing it was a vital action to help eliminate the body of toxins.
Proper breathing is essential , and helps execute movements with maximum power and efficiency.

Flow: Pilates exercises are smooth and fluid. Energy is found throughout all body parts and flows through the body resulting in graceful movements.
