Another standout season for Asher Miller has won himself the Para Athlete of the Year πŸ‘

After a very consistent season with the Bats, a silver medal at the Australian XCR Championships was a reward in the making. Not long after he quickly started putting kms on the track. Adding some mid week Vic Milers’ and championship events, more silverware was added to the collection:

✨ 2025/26 Athletics Bendigo Awards ✨

No introduction needed for both award recipients but we’ll try and cover one tenth of their involvement with Athletics Bendigo.

Sally Conroy Female Contributor - Lynley McDonald

Rarely without a smile on her face, Lynley is a much loved member of South Bendigo and a regular at both the track and cross country events. In her spare time you can see her in the canteen, often offering to take the load off other clubs to fill their duties. As an athlete, she loves the distance events where she’s an Oceania Masters medalist and a valued member of the Tuesday Track series and Trot around Tuesday’s.

Whenever a volunteer is needed, regardless of which club is in need, Lynley never thinks twice to assist.

Charlie Nolan Male Contributor - Mick Seymour

Covering both Littles and Senior events, Saturdays are spent at the track, plus the rest of his spare time. Stepping up as the Little’s President three years ago when no one else was willing, Mick took to the role with ease. One of those years included none of his children competing. He has led the sport through extremely busy seasons, hosting multiple NCR meets and LAVic Multis. Not to leave the new committee high and dry for the upcoming season, he has also taken on the Vice President role to ease their transition.

In the afternoons you can always catch Mick assisting with the throws events, predominately on the EDM. Behind the scenes, he’s the fixer man. Anything at the track that’s needing an upgrade or quick maintenance job he’s onto it. Without being asked, he’ll volunteer to make sure the track is always in tip top shape. For the winter, he’s a weekly runner at South’s cross country events and continues to dedicate his spare time for the sport.

We couldn’t think of two more deserving recipients for this award this season. Congratulations Lynley and Mick πŸ‘πŸ‘
