💫 Johanna — Quietly Entered. Boldly Performed.
Johanna didn’t tell a soul because she was nervous… then walked into Sunbury and won her first match.
Then she drew the first set against Chelsea Po***ck — fresh off the Australian Open — and pushed her all the way with fearless bowls and zero hesitation.Second set went Chelsea’s way, but Johanna played with heart, and walked off the green the happiest “loser” you’ll ever see.
That’s the Kooka spirit — courage, joy, and pride in the contest.

🟦 Men’s Indoor Championships – Today’s WrapTonks, Kevin and both Brads (Turtle & Tinning) are out after tough sections — all fought hard and represented the club brilliantly.Cameron and Trav are about to hit the mats, and we’re right behind them.
Brad “Soup” Campbell has made it through to Day 2 at Deer Park — huge effort.

This year, the Mighty Kookas have jumped in with full support — we’ve purchased our Digital Big Freeze Beanie, we’re stocking MND Stubby Holders at The Nest, and we’ll be hosting a special Winter Pairs Day later this year in tribute to Neale and everyone impacted by MND.
Every beanie, every holder, every event helps push us closer to a future free of Motor Neurone Disease.

💙❤️ ULO BECOMES A MIGHTY KOOKAS LIFE MEMBER ❤️💙

Today, we proudly recognised Ulo with Life Membership of Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club.

Thank you, Ulo, for your remarkable 25 years of service to our club. Over that time, you have contributed in countless roles and helped shape our club into the welcoming, successful, and family-oriented community we enjoy today.

Your dedication, hard work, and willingness to help have never gone unnoticed, and you've always done it with a smile on your face.

Of course, no tribute to Ulo would be complete without mentioning his legendary expertise with the WICK! In fact, at the Mighty Kookas, the wick is affectionately known as an "Ulo."

We're pretty sure just about every member has been "Ulo'd" at some stage! Whether it was a perfect toucher, a fortunate deflection, or a bowl that somehow found its way exactly where it needed to be, Ulo has made the wick his trademark.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honour, Ulo. Thank you for your friendship, commitment, and contribution over the past 25 years.

A true Mighty Kooka. A Life Member. And forever our WICK Expert.

💙❤️ ADRIAN AWARDED LIFE MEMBERSHIP ❤️💙

Today, Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club proudly recognised Adrian with Life Membership of our great club.

Over 34 years in bowls, Adrian has made an outstanding contribution both on and off the green and having the honour of serving as Club President on two occasions.

Adrian says he has always tried to stay calm and focus on the game ahead, a quality that has earned him the respect of teammates and opponents alike.

Among the bowlers he has most enjoyed playing alongside are John Todd, Neville Johnston, Graeme Sargeant and Ulo Oper — and of course his daughter, Natalie. In true Mighty Kookas fashion, Adrian added that he's happy to bowl with anybody.

Perhaps the comment that best sums up Adrian is this:

"Happy to be involved in the Club and contribute where I can to be a part of our growth and prosperity."

That attitude has been evident throughout his years of service and is a big reason why this honour is so richly deserved.

Congratulations, Ade, on becoming a Life Member of Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club. Thank you for your commitment, leadership, friendship and contribution over many years.

And finally, if we ever decide to hold a Karaoke Night at the Mighty Kookas, we'll all be expecting Ade to take centre stage and lead the crowd with his famous rendition of "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again!" 🎤😂

💙❤️ PRESIDENT VIK SIGNS ON FOR ANOTHER YEAR! ❤️💙

At our recent AGM, Mighty Kookas President Vik was delighted to announce that he will continue in the role for another year.

Vik reflected on how much he has enjoyed being President, particularly seeing the club continue to grow and welcoming so many new members and families into the Mighty Kookas bowling community.

Vik mention the support from our members has been incredible.

It's been fantastic watching friendships grow, families get involved, and seeing bowlers of all ages enjoying our great game together.

The Mighty Kookas continue to go from strength to strength, and much of that success comes from the positive and welcoming culture that has been built by our members, volunteers and supporters.

Congratulations, Vik, on continuing as President, and thank you for your passion, leadership and commitment to the Mighty Kookas family.

We're excited to welcome our youngest member, Theodore, to the team. At just a young age, he's already showing plenty of enthusiasm, a big smile, and a love for being around the club.

It's fantastic to see more juniors joining the Mighty Kookas program and proving that bowls is a sport for all ages. From our experienced players to our newest recruits, every member brings something special to our club.

Theodore may be our youngest Mighty Kooka, but he's already mastered the most important club skill — making everyone smile!

Great Members Night at the Kookas Nest!

​What a fantastic turnout we had for Members Night! The clubhouse was absolutely buzzing with great chats, cold drinks, and even better company.

​A massive shoutout to one of our superstar members, Georgina, who introduced a stunning selection of food for everyone tonight! From the kitchen to the tables, the spread was top-notch.
​The big debate of the night: what was the absolute best dish? 🤔
It’s a seriously hard choice between the cheesy garlic pizza bread and the pork belly! 🤤 Both were absolute winners!
