The club was the FIRST joint club (Men, Women and juniors) in not only, the Central Victorian region, but in Victoria. In
1979, the two clubs that formed the Strathdale Hockey Club were the Wanderers men and Skats women, teams playing in the then Bendigo Men's Hockey Association and the Bendigo YWCA Hockey Association. Originally, the club had two grass grounds at Beischer Park in Reservior Road, Strathdale, as its' home ground and a shared clubrooms with other sports. (hence the name) With the development of the synthetic surfaces at Garden Gully, the Strathdale Hockey Club released its home (grounds and club house) from Beischer Park and moved to the central hockey home. In 2009, the club worked with the City of Greater Bendigo and the Bendigo Cricket Club to extend the shared pavilion at the Ashley St Reserve, to at last, re-establish our clubrooms. The club is fully supportive of our members who strive to achieve their potential in hockey, as well as providing opportunities to those who wish to enjoy a social game of hockey and enjoy a social atmosphere off the field. Support for juniors in the form of dedicated coaches and social activities continues as these players are our future . Playing member ages range from five through to sixty plus. The club also actively supports those wishing to achieve coaching and umpiring accreditation. The club currently holds accreditation for "Good Sports Level 2".
