🏉 ROUND 11 | CHAMPIONS IGA CVFL 🏉

After a big return to action last weekend, Round 11 of the Champions IGA CVFL is here, with all matches set to be played on Sunday as clubs continue their push towards finals.

UNDER 18s

Echuca United Football Netball Club return home to face Golden Official Golden Square Football & Netball Club in a clash where both sides will be chasing their second win of the season. The Bulldogs broke through for their first victory of 2026 last weekend and will be keen to build momentum.

Castlemaine Football Netball Club faces the challenge of ladder leaders Woorinen Youth Girls. A win for the Magpies would keep them firmly in touch with the Top 4 race as the season enters its crucial stage.

At Malone Park, Marong Football Netball Club hosts White Hills Womens Football in what shapes as one of the matches of the round. The Panthers will be looking to bounce back from defeat, while White Hills arrive full of confidence after a strong win last week.

Strath Storm FNC, fresh from a hard-fought victory in Round 10, welcomes Kangaroo Flat FNCt in another important contest for both clubs.

Meanwhile at the QEO, Sandhurst Football Netball Club takes on Eaglehawk Football Netball Club in a match that could have significant Top 4 implications by the end of the weekend.

SENIORS

Castlemaine and the Wedge-Tailed Eagles Football Club will both be desperate to respond after narrow losses last week. Expect a fierce contest as both clubs look to get back on the winners list.

The QEO will host a blockbuster clash between Sandhurst and Eaglehawk. Sitting third and fourth respectively, both sides are in excellent form after impressive Round 10 victories and will be eager to strengthen their finals credentials.

Bendigo Women's Football Club hosts ladder leaders Golden Square in the final Senior match of the round. The Bulldogs sit a game clear on top of the ladder and continue to set the benchmark in 2026, while Thunder will be looking to cause a major upset on home turf.

SENIOR FOOTY AT ITS FINEST

If you love close contests, Sunday’s Champions IGA CVFL Senior clash between Eaglehawk Football Netball Club and the Wedge-Tailed Eagles Football Club had it all!

The Wedgies looked in control heading into the final change, holding an eight-point advantage after three quarters and setting the stage for a thrilling finish. But when the game was there to be won, Eaglehawk found another gear.

A dominant final-quarter display saw the Borough slam on three goals, turning the match on its head and securing a hard-fought 11-point victory in front of their home crowd at Canterbury Park.

🔴🔵 The CVFL's Best Ready for Battle! 🔵🔴

The wait is over! The 2026 CVFL Senior Interleague Team has been selected and is ready to represent the league in one of the biggest matches on the country football calendar when we take on the Ballarat Football Netball League on Saturday 4th July.

Interleague football is a special occasion — an opportunity for the very best players from across the CVFL to come together, put club rivalries aside, and wear the league colours with pride.

Led by co-coaches Eloise Gretgrix and Leigh Stevens, the selection process once again highlighted the incredible talent spread throughout our competition. We thank every player who nominated and took part in the trials. The effort, professionalism and commitment displayed by all players made for a highly competitive selection process, and we wish those not selected every success for the remainder of the season.

To those who have earned selection, congratulations. You now have the honour of representing your club, your teammates and the entire CVFL community on the interleague stage.

We know this group will embrace the challenge and proudly represent our league against a strong Ballarat outfit.

2026 CVFL Under 18 Interleague Team Announced!

The Central Victorian Football League is proud to announce its 2026 Under 18 Interleague Team that will represent the CVFL against the Ballarat Football Netball League on Saturday 4th July.

Following a highly competitive trial process, co-coaches Tim McCormick and Adam Place have finalised a talented squad featuring some of the league’s brightest young footballers. The standard throughout the trials was outstanding and reflects the strength and depth of football across the CVFL.

We would like to sincerely thank every player who nominated and participated in the trial process. The commitment, effort and sportsmanship shown by all involved made the coaches job incredibly difficult. While not everyone could be selected, each player should be proud of their efforts and we wish them all the very best for the remainder of the 2026 season.

A huge congratulations to those players who have earned the opportunity to pull on the CVFL colours. You now have the chance to represent your club, teammates and league on the interleague stage against a strong Ballarat outfit.

The countdown is on to what promises to be a fantastic showcase of country football talent!

UNDER 18s THRILLER AT CANTERBURY PARK

Sunday morning's Champions IGA CVFL Under 18 clash between Eaglehawk Football Netball Club and Strath Storm FNC delivered everything footy fans could ask for – hard contests, momentum swings and a nail-biting finish!

In a ripping game from start to finish, Strathfieldsaye held their nerve in the closing stages to come away with a hard-fought nine-point victory over a determined Eaglehawk outfit.

Both sides showed plenty of skill, courage and commitment in a match that highlighted the exciting talent coming through our competition.

After the King's Birthday weekend break, the race to finals heats up as we launch into the second half of the 2026 Champions IGA CVFL season with a huge Round 10!

⭐ UNDER 18s

Round 10 kicks off TONIGHT under the lights at the QEO as Sandhurst Football Netball Club hosts Castlemaine Football Netball Club. The Dragons are coming off a big Round 9 victory and can leapfrog the Magpies on the ladder with a win while keeping their Top 4 hopes alive.

Sunday promises plenty of intrigue across the competition:

White Hills Womens Football hosts Kangaroo Flat FNC, with the Hillies aiming to strengthen their Top 4 position and potentially climb into second place, while the Roos continue their search for a breakthrough win.

Official Golden Square Football & Netball Club welcomes a tough Marong Football Netball Club outfit to Wade Street in what shapes as a massive challenge for the Bulldogs.

Eaglehawk Football Netball Club and Strath Storm FNC clash in a match that could have a major impact on the Top 4 race.

Woorinen Youth Girls takes on Echuca United Football Netball Club. The Eagles have shown plenty of improvement in recent weeks without getting the reward on the scoreboard. Can they push the reigning premiers all the way?

Tonight's action continues at the QEO with Sandhurst and Castlemaine facing off after the Under 18s. The Magpies have the opportunity to reclaim top spot on the ladder, while the Dragons are looking to strengthen their hold on a finals position.

A massive battle at Canterbury Park as the Wedge-Tailed Eagles Football Club take on Eaglehawk. With fourth spot on the ladder up for grabs, both sides will be desperate to respond after Round 9 defeats.
