After three hugely successful events, Bendigo Boxing Championships returns bigger, louder, and more exciting than ever before.

On July 25th, Truscott Reserve will once again play host to some of the region's most talented athletes across regional Victoria in amateur Boxing and Kickboxing.

Bendigo has a rich fighting history dating back generations, this event continues to showcase the skill, toughness, determination, and fighting spirit that our town is known for.

Whether you're a lifelong fight fan or attending your first event, expect an action-packed night featuring local rivalries, rising stars, future champions, and unforgettable moments.

Across 7 fighters and 8 bouts, our athletes competed in Boxing, Muay Thai, K-1 and Kickboxing, finishing the weekend with 5 wins and 2 valuable lessons and one draw.

Results are super important, but what makes us most proud is the growth, the raw character development, the professionalism displayed by every member of our team.
Each fighter represented both Bendigo Fight Centre and our community with pride, respect and determination.

A special thank you to Sean and Bett Hackett.
Your support of our fighters extends far beyond this weekend, and the time, effort and encouragement you consistently provide help and it does not go unnoticed.

Never thought I’d make a GoFundMe… but here we are.
This is about pushing limits, representing our fighters, and proving what discipline, heart, and community can achieve together.

For everyone backing us (or even doubting us) you can be part of the journey.

There’s been plenty of mixed reactions and comments around this challenge, but honestly, it only fuels the fire even more.

Now it’s not just me.
My brother and fellow BFC coach, Kaleb Heffernan has decided to step up and take this challenge on alongside me.
We’re doing this for the fighters, not one part of (and I speak for Kaleb confidently here) us wants to do this, but we truly believe in our fighters and their capabilities to become world class professionals some day.
So everyone who believes in hard work and resilience, let’s make this happen! ✊

Our athletes sacrifice endlessly to chase opportunities in combat sports.
Travel, registrations, medicals, accommodation, training equipment, it all adds up.
Over the last few years our fighters have literally fought not just across Australia but across the globe- Indonesia, Thailand, Scotland and England.
In Australia, amateur fighters don’t get paid, and 99% of them get $0 in funding
still our fighters train like professionals every single day.

So we’re putting our body and mind on the line to help support the next generation coming out of Bendigo.
Every lap will hurt.
Every kilometre will test.
But quitting isn’t an option.

Some kids know what an IPad or IPhone is before ever knowing the taste of an Apple.
It’s 2026, wake up.
A generation is being raised connected to screens more than to the real world.
What kind of adults are we creating?

Modern addiction doesn’t always come in the form of a bag, bottle, syringe ect.
Sometimes,
drugs is in the form of screens, ultra-processed foods, with endless scrolling and constant dopamine stimulation.
No, a phone isn’t the same as hard drugs.
But the psychological effects of addiction, dependency, anxiety, isolation, and overstimulation are very real ESPECIALLY in children!

While gaming, scrolling, binge-watching and most other screen based activities train the brain for constant dopamine and passive consumption, Martial Arts teaches the following 👇

* Discipline
* Respect
* Accountability
* Confidence under pressure
* Social skills and teamwork
* Physical fitness and coordination
* Emotional control
* Resilience through adversity

A child can spend 5+ hours gaming and gain essentially nothing for the real world.
One hour in a martial arts gym can help improve so so much, discipline, confidence, resilience, purpose, fitness, work ethic, mental toughness, and provide real interactions and connection with real life experiences all at once.

Screens create comfort.
Martial arts create growth.
One builds consumers.
The other builds capable human beings.
No, screens aren’t evil, they should be a reward system or in the least part of your job, not your existence.

In today’s screen driven world, helping children develop focus, discipline, and confidence has never been more important. 💯

Here BFC we believe discipline is about creating routine, structure, building resilience, and giving kids the tools they need to thrive both inside and outside the gym.

Join the fight for awareness. ✊

Bendigo Fight Centre invites members and supporters to join us on Sunday, 15 March 2026 at 10:30 AM for the SPAN Su***de Awareness Walk at Dai Gum San, Bridge St, Bendigo.
We’re honoured to partner with the Su***de Prevention and Awareness Network (SPAN) to raise awareness and honour loved ones. 💙

BFC will be presenting a non combative demonstration on the day, covering fundamental body mechanics and body weight exercises.
These accessible movements support physical and mental health
resistance and other forms of exercise are shown to help prevent and treat depression and boost mood. 🧠 💪

A 2023 University of South Australia review that analysed more than 1000 trials found that even some of the most simple activities such as walking or basic resistance training improved depression and anxiety symptoms more than being sedentary. 🚶‍♀️ 🚶

Our aim is to share these science‑backed techniques so you can incorporate them into your life to support your mental health. We look forward to walking together for healing and hope. 🙏
