Benalla MILO T20 Blast & IN2Cricket. Benalla Milo Cricket - T20 Blast and IN2Cricket.

04/10/2017

Ok it appears as though the news may be good - I am reliably informed that the T20 program will continue with Phil Sutherland at the helm, and the In2cricket will also bat on under Fiona Ham's experienced and capable guidance. Stay tuned...🙂🙂🙂🏏🏏🏏🏏

Hello all - I just wanted to remind everyone that the new summer of cricket is FAST approaching. As stated at the end of the last Milo summer, I will NOT be taking on the role of the T20 Blast coordinator this year as my focus will now switch to U12 duties. This leaves the T20 coordinator position open - to date no one has approached me or made it known that they would like to assume the role this year. If this remains the case, the T20 program is in very real jeopardy of not continuing. I feel this would be a great disappointment for all upcoming junior cricketers, and detrimental to the future of cricket in general. I do not wish for this to happen - but I can't continue with both roles, someone has to step up if the T20 program is to survive. PLEASE let me know if you are able and willing ~ the job, whilst initially time consuming, is not a difficult one and great support is given by Cricket Victoria ~ I would be willing to fully brief an incoming coordinator of what is required.. Thank you.

Evening all ~ hope the weekend is going along nicely for everyone.
Just a quick report on last night's action;
With the IN2 cricket coordinator away, the In2 cricketers once again stepped up and joined in with the T20ers for a couple of big bash games.
Scorchers led by Isaac smashed a massive 205, and Strikers with Cody at the helm couldn't quite reel it in, but put up a great fight in their chase.
Over the road, it was a very tight affair with only 6 runs separating the two teams in the end...
Thunder finished up with 112 and were just pipped by Renegades on 118. Nail biter.

That was the last of our proper games for this season - next week is our break up - come down for a free for all game, get mum and dad or whoever you like in on the action, and take time out for a BBQ snag in bread as well.

To those T20ers finishing up this year and moving up into the junior ranks - good luck and it has been a pleasure having you.

To the IN2ers coming up to T20 - WELCOME!

And finally - next season will see the need for a replacement T20 coordinator as I will follow my son into the junior ranks - please if you are interested in taking on the role, or know of somebody who may be - let me know ASAP. It is not a difficult job and it has been very rewarding to witness the development of a fine young group of cricketers for the last three years. It would be a terrible shame if the program did not continue into next season - the development and future of our young stars lies in the hands of volunteers.....just sayin'...

And with that food for thought - see you on Friday!

ATTENTION!

Sorry for shouting....please be advised that due to the extreme heat forecast for tomorrow Friday 10, ALL Milo cricket is cancelled (In2 and T20 Blast).

The day will be made up by adding another Friday to the program, so we finish up on the 24th Feb, NOT the 17th.

Please pass this on to anyone you can - this is the only form of communication I use as it reaches the most people, so if you know any Milo ers who are not on FB please let them know.

Cheers - see you next week.

G'day Milo cricketers - back to school this week? No doubt you are all very excited about that.

Friday night was a bit of a different format than usual, with numbers still down a bit we combined the T20 Blasters with the In2cricketers for a game involving all Milo cricketers.
The two combined sides were Scorchers and Sixers, and the day before the BBL final produced a result that was much closer than the actual final that's for sure.
Sixers got over the line by one run - 149 v 148 - a nail biter.

What was also very evident was the fantastic positive mentoring behaviour we saw from the T20 blasters - they were very welcoming and helpful toward their much younger counterparts which was great to see and they should all be proud of themselves. The In2cricketers also showed the benefits they are reaping from their program, with quite a few of them taking it right up to the bigger kids - super stuff that.

With school back this week, numbers will hopefully be boosted a bit - there's only 3 weeks to go so get down there guys!

I'll be in Melbourne this Friday recovering from the Springsteen concert on Thursday night but the great man Brendan Duncombe @ Duncs will step into the fold and seamlessly transition and run the show. Thanks again Duncs your assistance is appreciated as always.

Cheers and two centres thanks.

Welcome to the new year In2cricketers and T20 blasters - last Friday saw us kick off 2017 resuming battle at the gardens oval.
Numbers were down a bit so we were reduced to 1 game instead of 2 - 1 game is better than no game though!
Two combined sides clashed in the big game - Strikers captained by Rohan batted first and ground out a respectable 170 from their allotted overs. Everyone contributed with Blake top scoring, ably assisted by Lucas, Aiden, Mitch, Seth, Sam and skipper Rohan.
Stars led by Bayleigh replied with a match winning 233. Again all batters contributed with the skipper top scoring and again being well supported by Hamish, Ben, Cody, Bryce, Kai, Tom and James.
Awesome stuff.
This weekend is the Australia Day long weekend, which may see some players still away, but we will go on as scheduled anyway so until then - over and out....or not out...

Hey all Benalla Milo In2cricketers and T20 blasters - just a reminder we are back this Friday 20th Jan at 5 pm. See you there!

Another exciting round of matches last Friday - once again played in great spirit and fun with runs aplenty across the two grounds.

Thunder took on Renegades in a high scoring and nail biting match - in the end only eight runs separated the two sides. Thunder knocked up 220 from their overs with everyone - Kai, Hamish, Bayleigh, Tom and Bryce all scoring impressively.
Renegades fell JUST short with 212 runs. Again, everyone - Adrian, Archie (Stanford) , Aiden, Sam, Jamillia and Lochy all contributed with the bat.
MVP's for the game were Aiden Farmer and Hamish Willett.

Over the road,Hurricanes and Scorchers did battle - Hurricanes managed 128 with Archie (Stevens) knocking up 32. Angus, Rohan, Trevor, Xavier, Seth and Mitchell all did their part with the bat as well.
Scorchers won out on the day with 175. Blake knocked up a 50, with James, Lucas, Isobel, Ben, Owen and Gideon all chipping in.
MVP's - Owen Pollard and Archie Stevens.

Next week is our last game before Christmas - Brendan Duncombe will be the man in charge on Friday and we all thank him very much for his continued support and assistance. Great stuff Duncs.

Lastly - to Emma, Jamillia, Isobel and Matilda - have great time at the Big Bash on Tuesday - you never know some or all of you might be wearing the Stars shirt one day in the BBL!

Fantastic news courtesy of Cricket Victoria;
There are four girls registered in Milo T20 - they have been invited to the Women's Big Bash game (Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Stars) in Lavington next Tuesday. All four have accepted the invitation.
They'll get to run onto the park with the players, get presented with a Stars cap and be allowed access into the players room with a parent. What a fantastic opportunity.
So - Isobel, Matilda, Jamillia and Emma I'll have your tickets ready to give to you tomorrow night - enjoy the game and make sure mum or dad takes some photos to put on the page!

Last Friday's action saw two games kick off together with the Renegades led by Aiden Farmer take on the Hurricanes with Seth Arnold at the helm. Over the road the Hamish Willett led Thunder took on Scorchers skippered by Lucas Ham.

The results of the games was affected by a bit of confusion - there were some players who weren't quite sure where they were supposed to be which led to a couple of players playing for teams they weren't in, leaving their own team short and another too full!

Hopefully this week we'll sort all that out and make absolutely sure that everyone is on the right ground playing for the right team. We don't want results that are too one sided if we can help it.

So - Renegades knocked up a massive 7/330 from their allotted overs with skipper Aiden Farmer and Emma Griffiths knocking up scores of 60+. Hurricanes did the best they could with an undermanned outfit and replied with 5/200 - Lochie Duggan and Seth Arnold led the way with the bat. Good stuff.

Thunder (batting two short) did very well to knock up 2/94 - hopefully next week they'll be back to full strength and will push well past 100. Bayleigh Dervish just missed out on a half century with 49. Scorchers took the cake in this one with 4/148. Blake Spokes and skipper Lucas Ham in a strong rear guard partnership of 70.

There might be a couple of extras along for next week with Archie Stevens joining us and at least one other possibly. This will boost numbers in a couple of the teams and even things right out hopefully. This week we'll make sure that everyone is were they're meant to be and we should see much closer games.

MVP (Milo Valuable Player) for this week - Adrian Ashton for his caring approach to helping a much younger player with his batting grip and Lucas Ham who I am told was very encouraging toward his team mates.

Thank you - Rick Willett for as usual putting his hand up, Brendan Duncombe, Brent Wallace, Jordan Smith and Peter Keen for coming down to help out with the kids. If anyone else was about that I missed I'm sorry but thank you as well.

Cheers!

Hi all,
A bit of feedback required please; IMPORTANT;

A few later registrations have pushed the T20 number s up to 24 (as of today).
This leave us with 2 options - we continue with TWO teams of 12 and play ONE longer game (much more down time) OR split into FOUR teams of 6 and play two simultaneous shorter games. This would allow a rotating comp with ladder system.
I think the 2 shorter games would be better and there would be less down time. It would mean, however, that I would need a parent / helper to score & umpire the other game - not a difficult job.

SO - what do you think and what do the young cricketers think - please ask them because at the end of the day it's about them after all! let me know before Friday.

Cheers.
