On the day, to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible, remember to:

✔️ Wear the kind of clothing that you’d wear if you are expected to go bushwalking for the afternoon.

The World Record setting Pilot Lisa Trotter has conquered some of gliding’s toughest achievements. Lisa’s historic ten hour flight in December 2013 broke a total of 31 world, national and continental records. Her exemplary work is inspiration to all of us. Lisa says her enthusiasm for gliding comes from her Dad, who took her on gliding holidays growing up! 😎

Lisa - “My father flew in the World War 2 and continued on as an airline pilot after the war. After more than 40 years of flying power he had a go at gliding and we both did a course together. Now 40 years later I’m still flying gliders and loving it. If I hadn’t been for dad’s flying, I might not have had a chance to have a peek into the world of aviation and realise that I could take part in this fascinating interest. With dad’s support and the familiarity of aviation, I felt confident to take on the many challenges of gliding from going solo to world record flights.” 💖

An amazing pilot Shelly Heinrich treasures the compassion for gliding & aviation that was passed on to her by her Dad, Rob Heinrich 😊

Shelly - ‘My Dad had a passion for flying ever since he saw an impressive Bristol Freighter fly low over his house in New Zealand. He immediately took to the skies and got his licence. The passion soon rubbed onto me to feed my need for adventure and experiencing new things. Loving the outdoors and flying free is a beautiful feeling and I thank my Dad for introducing me to the opportunity to follow your passions in life.The beauty of having an eagle fly on your wing with you, there are no words to describe the tranquility of looking in the eagles eyes right there with you and having that common feeling of being one with nature. Dad and I would fly the Jabiru or the RV7 whenever we visited each other.’ 💖

Today we don’t have just one but three loving, kind Dads who got to share the joy of gliding with their children 💕

Jeff and Zac - Jeff learned to fly when he was younger but got back into it with Zac later in life - they took a solo course and learned again together 😊

Matt and Pete both joined and learned together 💛

Kevin and Ben - Kevin took Ben for first flight when Ben was 4 years old in 1991. They have flown multiple times together ever since! 🛫

Next person in our list of amazing Dads’ in Gliding community is Robert Gould! Robert shared on his love and thrill of aviation to his daughter, Lilly Gould! 😊

Lilly – ‘Dad was really the main person who got me into aviation and inherently gliding. He’s my number one coach for competition I swear he used to be a plane and that’s how he knows so much. This photo is from a cross country together. The best piece of advice he gave me is “it doesn’t matter what you have done it’s what you do next that counts” and I think it really speaks ounces in every aspect of life not just gliding.”’

Lilly has already participated in several competitions, and is always looking forward to more competitions 😅 We can’t wait to see Lilly bring her A-game to JoeyGlide 2020! (January can’t come soon enough!) 😎🛩
