- Happy Monday - Welcome Home, Owain Boyle

The Saints are thrilled to officially welcome Owain Boyle and the entire Boyle family to the club.

A proud Benalla local who lives just a stone’s throw from the ground, Owain’s arrival feels less like a recruitment and more like a signing — it’s a welcome home celebration.

Returning home from the powerhouse Ovens & Murray Football League, widely regarded as one of the strongest country football competitions in Australia, Owain brings with him an exceptional list of achievements despite having only recently turned 18 years of age.

Still completing Year 12 and working locally, Owain is already a familiar face around Benalla. Most people in and around town know exactly who this young man is, and for good reason. His achievements on the football field have been remarkable, but those who know him best will tell you his character, work ethic and humility are just as impressive.

To think that all of this has been achieved by someone who only turned 18 a little over a month ago is extraordinary.

Owain, welcome home. We are incredibly excited to have you at the Saints and look forward to sharing the next chapter of your football journey with you and your family.

10 contested disposals on debut for young gun Josh Hart

Making his senior debut as a 17-year-old small forward, Josh Hart produced an impressive performance, finishing with 10 disposals — remarkably, all 10 were contested possessions.

Josh earned his opportunity through hard work, commitment, and consistently putting his hand up week after week, both on the training track and on game day. His determination and willingness to compete have been impossible to ignore.

The highlight of the day came when Josh kicked a brilliant goal in front of his Thirds teammates, making the occasion even more memorable.

Senior Coach Nick Pearson was full of praise for the talented youngster.

“Josh has amazing attributes and an even more amazing attitude. We’ve got some special talent in our 15–19 age bracket and Josh is right at the top of that group. His decision-making under pressure and his ability to find the footy will only continue to improve. We know he’s a star, and we’re really excited to see his football continue to grow.”

A memorable debut for Hart and, judging by his first senior outing, the first of many exciting chapters to come. 🏉

**Another Senior Debutant**

Rory Sammon

Family matters — and on Saturday it couldn’t have rung any truer for the Saints.

Club legend and life member Bill Sammon had the honour of presenting his grandson Rory with his Senior debut guernsey in a truly special moment for the Sammon family and our football club.

Bill’s legacy in country football speaks for itself — a 10-time Ovens & Murray representative, O&M Hall of Famer, and past captain and coach of the Benalla Demons. To now see the next generation pull on the jumper made for a proud day for everyone involved.

Rory certainly embraced the moment. In his senior debut, he finished with 12 disposals, 3 tackles and 4 one-percenters, while being thrown straight into the heat of the contest. Starting as a forward rotation, Rory quickly found himself on a wing before finishing the game in defence — showing his willingness to do whatever the team required.

One thing that stands out about Rory is his courage and selflessness. He puts his head over the footy and competes every single time.

Senior Coach Nick Pearson had this to say about the young Saint:

“Rory is amazing because he just wants to put his best foot forward. He has been doing exactly what’s been asked of him in the development side and has pressed his case for a couple of weeks by following clear instructions. He’s very easy to coach because he’s team first.”

Congratulations to Rory and the entire Sammon family on a fantastic achievement and a special moment for the Benalla Football Netball Club. ❤️🤍
