Congratulations to Belmont members Louise and Wayne Comer - successful in Section 1 of the Sale GC Doubles this weekend.

They won 6 games with 10 hoops.

Runners -up were John Carr (Mornington) and Richard Parkes (Williamstown).
Section 2 was won by Sue and Wayne Faithful (Bairnsdale).

It has been an amazing two days for the Jim Saunders Tournament at Belmont Croquet Club We have been so pleased to welcome visitors from near and far and hope that you have enjoyed some Belmont hospitality.

Highlights included showbags put together by Tournament Manager Katrina Petersen, which highlighted aspects of Jim's life, career and achievements. A wonderful way to honour Jim. Hot chocolates with marshmallows and ham and cheese toasties to ward off the early morning cold. And, most importantly, people coming together to compete in a very friendly and sporting manner.

After 2 days of close competition we had a clear winner. We congratulate Janet Bradshaw and Peter Granland from Ballarat Western Croquet Club. Runners-up were Taryn Arho and Joy Sutherland from . Well played.

The major raffle prize was won by Alistair McDougal from .

Congratulations to all players. Many thanks to Tony Pye and Colin Menzies for refereeing. Thanks to the many helpers who made the tournament such a success.

The Jim Saunders Tournament is underway.

Many thanks to our hoop setters who were here before dawn setting up and measuring hoops by torchlight.

After a welcome from Val Saunders and the Tournament Manager, Katrina Petersen, players were keen for a quick practice.

It's the eve of the Jim Saunders Handicap Doubles event, our marquee event for the year.

The club was buzzing this afternoon as the Belmont elves prepared showbags, finalised the raffle prizes and visitors from afar had a practice on the courts.

All is in readiness. Even the weather gods are on board this year!

The Reg Paton Memorial Challenge is an annual hi-lo croquet tournament played between the Drysdale and Belmont Croquet clubs. The competition was established in 2025 to honor long-time local player, tournament manager, and referee Reg Paton who was a member of both clubs.

Today Belmont hosted 5 teams from each club. They played 4 challenging games. It came down to the last 5 games where Belmont really needed to win all 5 games to win 🤣😂😅. Unfortunately we lost 3 very close games 6-7, 6-7, 4-5. So Drysdale were ultimately the victors 7 games to13.

Thanks to everyone for participating and Belmont look forward to trying to take back the trophy next year.
