🎣🔥 HOT TIPS FOR CASTING METAL SLUGS IN THE SURF! 🔥🎣

Here’s a bit of fun and hopefully a few tips that help you hook more fish! 👌

✅ Cast as far as you comfortably can and start winding once you let the slug sink. Many strikes can happen in the first few seconds.

✅ Vary your retrieve speed. Sometimes a flat-out burn works, other times a slower retrieve with pauses gets smashed.

✅ Watch for birds diving, bait schools, splashes, or nervous water. That’s where the fish are feeding.

✅ Fish the gutters, deeper holes, and edges of sandbanks. Predatory fish patrol these areas looking for an easy meal.

✅ Keep moving! If you’re not getting bites after 15-20 minutes, walk the beach and find active fish.

✅ Match your slug size to the baitfish. Small bait = smaller slug. Big bait = bigger slug.

🐟 Species that love metal slugs include tailor, mackerel, bonito, mack tuna, queenfish and trevally.

🌊 Bonus tip: Fish around sunrise and sunset. Low light periods are often when the surf comes alive!

😢 This is incredibly sad. This is what we now face here on Bribie for our Bait & Tackle Shop.

While we welcome new businesses to our community, the arrival of BCF places even more pressure on the two small, family-owned bait and tackle shops that have proudly served Bribie locals for years and are already under significant financial strain.

Small businesses are the backbone of communities like ours. We employ local people, support local suppliers, sponsor local clubs and events, and put money straight back into the local economy.

What is particularly disappointing is seeing our local Member take the time to visit and promote a large national retailer, yet not take the time to visit, support, or acknowledge the small local businesses that have been serving this community long before the big chains arrived.
