INAUGURAL ADRIAN BROWN OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
At the FTGCA awards night, the association in conjunction with the League Radio show paid honour to the late Adrian Brown by striking a new honour in recognition of outstanding individual achievements in his name.
It is our pleasure to share that Reece Schelfhout was the inaugural winner, for his incredible innings of 300 this season. An innings that will be remembered for a lifetime, Reece not only broke club records galore but set a new benchmark for the associations highest senior score on record, in a one day game of all places off a mind blowing 108 balls. A truly outstanding achievement, fitting of the award.
Reece’s innings was the 3rd highest score in any 1st XI cricket in Australia over summer and set social media and traditional media alight, notching up nearly 300K views on our socials and featured in print and radio media.
It’s worth mentioning that Reece had an incredible year beyond that innings, making the most amount of runs for De Coite Shield in the home and away season with 744 runs @ 53.1 including 2 x 100s and 2 x 50s. This is the second highest individual 1st XI aggregate in our clubs 118 year history.
Reece also notched up his 2000th career run for Belgrave in the process, and now has 2,006 runs at 38.6 with 3 x 100s and 12 x 50s in only 4 seasons and he now comfortably sits in our top 20 for all time Mens 1st XI runs.
Adrian Brown was Sean’s uncle, a league executive member for many years, radio show host, life member of the footballers and a former Ron Lomax Medallist in 1993/94 so we think it’s fitting to share a photo in his honour of both Reece as the inaugural winner, and Aaron with this years Lomax.
Vale Adrian and well done Reece, superstar ⭐️
