Hello dear Yoga family
THANKYOU 🙏 for your patience and understanding over the last 2 weeks whilst I’ve taken a back seat to rest and recover quietly from an upper respiratory infection.
Goodness me, it was a bit of a shock to feel so crook - and I am definitely grateful to be well and truly on the mend and looking forward to seeing you all in the studio this week !!
💫Health and Vitality is not to be taken for granted, regardless of time of year, or time of our lives……
Aging is an unavoidable process marked by numerous physiological and psychological changes that profoundly impact overall health and quality of life. (Including how long it can take to recover from injury and illness)
🧘♀️Good news is practices such as YOGA and MEDITATION can mitigate the adverse effects of aging and promote longevity by reducing oxidative stress, modulating chronic inflammation, enhancing immune function, and preserving telomere length—key markers of cellular aging.
🌸🌿In addition, Yoga practice contributes to improved cardiovascular health, musculoskeletal strength, and mental well-being, fostering a comprehensive approach to healthy aging.
Having practiced yoga for more than 30 years, I continue to adapt my practice to suit my individual needs as my mind, body and soul moves through the seasons of life. I am not stuck in the past, wishing for my 20 year old self, but look to honour and respect THIS self in the here and now.
Some of the biggest lessons yoga offers are not the ASANAS but …..contentment, acceptance & gratitude
🌈 My advice is don’t seek youthfulness, seek vibrancy!
Vibrancy is ageless. We all can admire the s***k and energy of a 90 year old as much as we admire it in a 9 year old. Vibrancy is a state of energy, activity and vigor and it can be obtained at any age. The more life force you bring into your being through your Yoga practice, meditation, connection to nature….. practices that increase our prana or chi, the more vibrant you will become, despite the number of years reflected on your driver’s licence!
Keep practicing yogis - with love and kindness
