For a rough-track reel, I’d keep it punchy and let the footage do the heavy lifting:

For me, there are a few things that never leave:

1. Ground sheet / tarp
If I need to work under the car, at least I’m not lying in the mud.

2. Recovery gear
Always ready, just in case. I never get bogged… haha. Mainly there to help out the Toyota boys when they get stuck.

3. Something to light a fire
Striker, matches or a lighter. If you ever find yourself in an emergency, being able to get a fire going can mean staying warm.

4. Umbrella
You never know when you’ll need to stay dry. Dry is better than cold and wet.

5. Radio
Even with a hard-wired CB, I always keep a handheld as backup. It’s also handy when I’m winching the Toyota boys out.
