Beechmont Football Association (BFA) is delighted to announce it has won a grant worth $32,500 from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. $7450 will go towards new moveable goal posts and line marking gear.
The moveable goal posts will enable other users of the park to hold other events, such as the school athletics, without the static posts being restrictive. The remaining $25,050 is earmarked for maintenance, pest/weed control and top-dressing of Graceleigh Park Oval. The leaseholder, BRASA management, has been made aware of the windfall and will no doubt be thrilled by the injection of funds added to its coffers.
In other news, BFA continues its efforts to find a solution to the ongoing problem involving 9000 dollars of frozen funds in an account within the Bendigo Bank. The funds belong to BFA’s Junior Soccer sub-committee. Several years ago a senior member of the community, although not a member of the soccer club at the time, unnecessarily created a dispute within the bank. BFA remains hopeful a resolution can be reached so that the kids and parents running the junior practise sessions will finally have access to the funds.
