Beaumaris Bowls Club

Beaumaris Bowls Club Both regular competitive and social bowls are offered. The Club welcomes new members. Free coaching L. Yott reserve and establish a Bowling Club.

In the early 1950s a number of local citizens decided to form a lawn bowls club in Beaumaris. Following discussions with the then City of Sandringham, approval was given for the club to lease land in the F. Considerable hard work was involved in setting up the club and its green and in 1955 it became affiliated with RVBA, followed in 1957 with the Ladies joining with the VLBA. From its humble begi

nnings of a tin shed and one green together with the generous use of member’s homes for social activities, the club has evolved over the years to its present magnificent club house and two good quality greens. As the Club grew in numbers and in bowling experience, it became well established within the two Associations. It reached its peak in the 1980s with six men’s and five ladies’ pennant sides. The bowling achievements of members are well documented on the several honour boards. The Club was selected to host the International “Jack High” series from 1981 to 1985 and has been the premier Melbourne Lawn Bowls venue for a range of high profile events. The greens have been given consistently high ratings each year. The Club is very proud of its gardens, the outstanding BBQ area and the “Founders” garden.

Yesterday, The John Bradley Champagne Mixed Triples Perpetual Trophy (yes, that's it's full name) was held at Beaumaris Bowls Club in perfect conditions. Many thanks to John Bradley for sponsoring his tournament since 2019. Many thanks to Warren Miller for a magnificent job directing and organising the tournament. Thanks to all the members who worked in the background, setting up, cleaning up, doing the paperwork and providing tea, coffee, cake and sandwiches to the bowlers. The scorers did a fantastic job of recording the scores from the cards and entering the data that works out who has won what. It couldn't have happened if there were no entries, so thanks to everyone who played in the spirit of the game and enjoyed themselves.

So many Club members made the day a great success. You know who you are and many thanks from all of us. Thanks to Warren Miller for organizing, delegating and supervising the whole event.

This GoFundMe is to ask for your support for John Taylor, who has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It’s been an incredibly confronting time for John and his family, with everything moving very quickly. His specialist team has advised that surgery should take place as soon as possible.
To avoid lengthy and uncertain waiting times in the public system, John needs to undergo the procedure privately.
