Beaumaris Bowls Club Both regular competitive and social bowls are offered. The Club welcomes new members. Free coaching L. Yott reserve and establish a Bowling Club.

In the early 1950s a number of local citizens decided to form a lawn bowls club in Beaumaris. Following discussions with the then City of Sandringham, approval was given for the club to lease land in the F. Considerable hard work was involved in setting up the club and its green and in 1955 it became affiliated with RVBA, followed in 1957 with the Ladies joining with the VLBA. From its humble beginnings of a tin shed and one green together with the generous use of member’s homes for social activities, the club has evolved over the years to its present magnificent club house and two good quality greens. As the Club grew in numbers and in bowling experience, it became well established within the two Associations. It reached its peak in the 1980s with six men’s and five ladies’ pennant sides. The bowling achievements of members are well documented on the several honour boards. The Club was selected to host the International “Jack High” series from 1981 to 1985 and has been the premier Melbourne Lawn Bowls venue for a range of high profile events. The greens have been given consistently high ratings each year. The Club is very proud of its gardens, the outstanding BBQ area and the “Founders” garden.

Sad news reaches us that our friend and former member, Lachlan Tighe has passed away. Lachlan had been battling cancer for some time. His fight is now over and it’s time for him to rest in peace.
Lachlan had a huge presence in the world of bowls. He was the quintessential legend of our sport, both on and off the field.

Sometimes, and the phrase will surely come, we are all left to defiantly state, “Phuck Cancer”!

Sad news reaches us that our friend and former member, Lachlan Tighe has passed away. Lachlan had been battling cancer for some time. His fight is now over and it’s time for him to rest in peace.

Lachlan had a huge presence in the world of bowls. He was the quintessential legend of our sport, both on and off the field. He truly was a giant, as a member, bowler, coach, mentor, administrator and even as a mate. The all round good bloke, the champion bowler, the legendary coach! Simply, he meant something to those that knew him.

In the world of bowls there are few bigger than, Lachlan Tighe. He can lay claim to being a true power house of our sport. He will be sadly missed.

Our thoughts are with Lachlan’s wife Sam, their young daughter, his extended family and his friends.

It’s time to enjoy a good red in Lachie’s honour, “cheers to absent friends”!

The first use of our new outdoor area was the venue for the World Cup Socceroos vs Paraguay game at midday on Friday 26th June. Over 100 fans turned up to watch and cheer on the Aussies.
