As an exercise scientist, physical activity is measured, analysed, graphed and compared giving an objective view of the dataset.
This is great for performance athletes or a patient recovering from injury, illness or living with a chronic condition.
As Yoga Teachers and passionate yoga enthusiasts, the lanuage is "how this feels in your body" and "tune in with your breath".
During one calendar month, a female has one cycle roughly four weeks. Each week, female hormones pulse signifying higher or lower levels depending on age, stress levels, health history etc..
So you can safely say, women tend to have four personalities over a month explaining energy levels, recovery time from exercise, libido, cravings, mood, focus, tolerance, patience....
This is where yoga cannot be quantified. Some weeks the female body will crave a slow, deep, introspective stretch in Yin or an active Vinyasa class. Some weeks it maybe a steady balanced Hatha or draped over a bolster with a weighted blanket in Restorative.
Yoga caters for every Body at every stage of life whether hormones are fluctuating or not. What's important is listening to the needs recognising each day/night is different. Try not to identify yourself with one style of yoga.
