SEASON LAUNCH 2023-2024

We're back!

On Thursday October 5th, we'll have our final training session to launch into the season, and we want you there!

Firstly, our juniors will have the traditional shirt and hat presentation, starting at 5:30pm, followed by dinner!

Following senior training, we are pleased to share that Darren Berry will be joining us as our guest speaker - Darren will be coming to senior training to a look and give out pointers, then hanging around for a chat after his speech.

Darren has a great relationship with many Saints already, and we're excited to hear some of his wisdom!

Following Darren's speech, our senior captains will introduce the round 1 teams for men's and women's teams - with many first time Saints on the cards for round 1 announcements.

Dinner will be chicken parmas and a wide range of salads, which will cost $10 per person. We'll also be offering vegetarian options!

Please RSVP to our Head of Off-Field, Nat Pahi (0421207327) for catering purposes and any dietary requirements.

Any questions - please let us know!

Also - don't forget to register! You need to be registered before round 1 to be selected.

Hope we are all ready for another season of junior cricket at the Saints!

This season has the added excitement of a brand new 5 practice lane facility and a new double storey pavilion at Manson Reserve!

A reminder that part of our “one club” philosophy, this page remains dormant and we ask that you “like” the main St Andrews Cricket Club page, which has all information on the coming junior season. For ease, we have also included the registration link on the flyers below (or scan on the QR code):

JUNIOR UPDATE

As we gear up for our penultimate weekend before a break, what a great time to reflect on our achievements to date. Many thanks to the Junior Committee, in conjunction with members of the Senior Committee, for their tireless work with ensuring our kids are getting a game each week with Manson Reserve out of action, in addition to setting up our temporary building following the demolition of our rooms. It’s been one of the hardest we’ve endured and we are very thankful for everyone stepping up to the tasks required and thinking on their feet with many quick decisions required in order to get on the park each week. To all parents - thank you.

Pleasingly, with a couple of the ovals getting mowed this week, the u12/8’s playing on the East Oval tonight and good progress on the new rooms, we can definitely see the light. The final result of brand new double storey clubroom and a new 5 lane net facility will be definitely worth the wait.

REPRESENTATIVE CRICKET

We are delighted to have a total of 26 Saints make a representative team this season – refer attachments for the list. This week we had Mitch (Bayswater U15 JG Craig), Maya, Tiarna and Gabby (U14 RDCA) and Matilda, Isabel and Clara (U12 RDCA) all announced!
Congratulations to all players that were nominated to trial and to all player who made a team, best of luck and we cannot wait to support you!

Hi all

*Junior Update*

Another fantastic weekend of cricket and it’s been great to see a few sides hit a good run of form in the lead up to Christmas.

Both our u16’s teams are in the top 4 with some good wins on the weekend. Ronan (103*) and Joel (29) got together for a 132 run partnership that set up the game before a disciplined bowling effort from all 10 bowlers saw us come away with a win. Great to see Michain return from injury and continue where he left off with 2/25 from 10.

Amazingly, all of Ethan (2 50’s in a row), Matthew and Brodie hit their career best scores in the team total of 8/279! Better than that the team conceded just one wide in their 38 overs bowled, amazing effort.

Both our u14 teams have hit some good form winning their past two matches. Shevinn and Kevin (that rhymes) picked up career best batting and bowling respectively last match in the u14/3’s whilst wonderful to see Ada and Maya put on a 69 run partnership to lead the team to an excellent score of 9/203 with all 12 players contributing. Arjun also took the gloves off for a bowl and picked up a career best 3/11!

Both our u12 teams had their best performance of the season last weekend – the u12/3’s won on day 1 (7 different wicket takers) and the u12/7’s played a very tight game, just falling short – great effort!

Our girls teams have been hit by the weather a bit of late but the Stage 3 Girls had a wonderful win last week against last years grand finalists (runs and wickets shared) and our Stage 1 Girls remain unbeaten with all girls continuing to dominate. Unfortunately the rain/ground conditions have not been kind to the Stage 2 team but fingers crossed for this week.

Our u10’s meanwhile, showcase unbridled enthusiasm and love for cricket! The kids are improving every week whilst having fun and forming new friendships – well done.

*Junior T20 Update*
Another wonderful win for our u18’s last night with all players again contributing, whilst our u14 campaign comes to a close but we trust the kids enjoyed the tournament and got to showcase their attacking cricket. The u18 kids love the support from the wider club, so let’s keep getting behind them as they have one final regular season match before finals in December.

*Representative Cricket Update*
Congratulations to the following players for their selection in the following representative teams

*Dowling Shield u17 Premier Cricket
- Jordan Lynn (Dandenong)
- Lachlan Muir (Dandenong)
- Ronan Culloty (Fitzroy Doncaster)

Great achievement from all three to be selected in the highest grade of junior representative cricket. Best of luck and enjoy the experience.

*U15 Youth Premier League - Female
We are delighted to have three Saints girls make the U15 YPL team:
- Tanya Arul
- Jordyn Allen
- Mineli Perera

A wonderful achievement to make such a strong regional representative team and best of luck to all three. Fantastic to see a great reward for your commitment to your cricket.

*RDCA U12 Representative Cricket
- David Arul
This is David’s first representative cricket selection. Best of luck and have fun! We also had a couple of other boys really close to selection – congratulations on being so close and fingers crossed you can break into the team next season.

Coming up in the next few weeks is RDCA trials for the u18s and all female age groups, so looking forward to further good news!

The weather is looking good for this weekend, so let’s keep up the great performances.

Go Saints!

Hi Saints community,

Fantastic to get our full complement of junior matches in this weekend. Pleasingly, with the return to two day cricket all Saints teams immediately adapted showcasing a good mix between attack and defence.

*So far*
We are unbelievably proud of the performances in all of our teams and each Saint has had their moment to shine. We’ve had numerous career bests, a century (congrats again, Ronan!), a lot of 50’s, numerous 3 and 4 wicket hauls and some very close wins and losses; the games where every single ball creates excitement. The improvement of our returning players to last year has also been fantastic to see.

It's also been great of many of our coaches and team managers showing initiative and utilising local indoor facilities or alternate venues for training to ensure as much cricket as possible for our kids whilst our grounds are slowly drying out.

*U16 RDCA Representative Cricket*
Some fantastic news coming through. Six (!) Saints from our u16’s have been selected to represent the RDCA in this upcoming VMCU representative carnival:
- Sam Montgomery
- Michain Premaratne
- Braydan Mayoh
- Ishaan Shah
- Zac Brown
- Shaurya Shukla

Congratulations, boys, and especially exciting to see three first time rep players in Braydan, Ishaan and Zac. Best of luck for the carnival!

*Junior T20 Competition*
Two great games last week with our u18s having a close win and our u14’s just being pipped. The standard was strong and the competition is a great way for the kids to practice their attacking cricket. It was especially great to see two of our u16 receive late call ups to the u18 team and proceed to be amongst the best performers on the day – Zac 3/10 and Shaurya 2/2 & 11 runs!

Tonight our u18s are at Griff Hunt Reserve but unfortunately our U14 T20 has been washed out.

*Una*
Exciting to see our girls specialist coach, Una Raymond-Hoey in action for the Melbourne Stars this season and to have such a positive role model at the club. Fair to say that a few of the Stage 1 Stars have certainly been inspired if their performances are anything to go by! (photo of Issy and Tilda with Una on her debut)

*Junior Blasters*
Our Junior Blasters program for this season commences this Friday 18th November 5.30pm-6.30pm at the new venue of Regency Park Primary School. Thank you to Regency Park for their support and we look forward to seeing the next wave of superstars come play cricket with us. It’s not too late to join so please register at play.cricket.com.au and join us this Friday night!

Go Saints!
